اَلصّٰٓفّٰت

182 Ayaat مکیۃ

37:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

37:1

وَ الصّٰٓفّٰتِ صَفًّاۙ(۱)

I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows,

37:2

فَالزّٰجِرٰتِ زَجْرًاۙ(۲)

And those who restrain by reprimanding,

37:3

فَالتّٰلِیٰتِ ذِكْرًاۙ(۳)

And those who recite the Reminder,

37:4

اِنَّ اِلٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌؕ(۴)

Verily your God is One,

37:5

رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا وَ رَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِؕ(۵)

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the Easts.

37:6

اِنَّا زَیَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنْیَا بِزِیْنَةِ ﹰالْكَوَاكِبِۙ(۶)

He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars,

37:7

وَ حِفْظًا مِّنْ كُلِّ شَیْطٰنٍ مَّارِدٍۚ(۷)

Protecting them against every wayward devil,

37:8

لَا یَسَّمَّعُوْنَ اِلَى الْمَلَاِ الْاَعْلٰى وَ یُقْذَفُوْنَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍۗۖ(۸)

So that they are not able to listen to the angels of higher (echelons), and are pelted from all sides

37:9

دُحُوْرًا وَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَّاصِبٌۙ(۹)

And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them,

37:10

اِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَاَتْبَعَهٗ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ(۱۰)

Except those who eavesdrop and are pursued by a shooting flame.

37:11

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ اَهُمْ اَشَدُّ خَلْقًا اَمْ مَّنْ خَلَقْنَاؕ-اِنَّا خَلَقْنٰهُمْ مِّنْ طِیْنٍ لَّازِبٍ(۱۱)

So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay.

37:12

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَ یَسْخَرُوْنَ۪(۱۲)

Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff;

37:13

وَ اِذَا ذُكِّرُوْا لَا یَذْكُرُوْنَ۪(۱۳)

And when they are warned they pay no heed.

37:14

وَ اِذَا رَاَوْا اٰیَةً یَّسْتَسْخِرُوْنَ۪(۱۴)

When they see a sign, they laugh at it,

37:15

وَ قَالُوْۤا اِنْ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِیْنٌۚۖ(۱۵)

And say: "This is only magic.

37:16

ءَاِذَا مِتْنَا وَ كُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّ عِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبْعُوْثُوْنَۙ(۱۶)

When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again,

37:17

اَوَ اٰبَآؤُنَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَؕ(۱۷)

And our fathers too?"

37:18

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَ اَنْتُمْ دَاخِرُوْنَۚ(۱۸)

You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made."

37:19

فَاِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجْرَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ فَاِذَا هُمْ یَنْظُرُوْنَ(۱۹)

There will only be a single jerk, and they will gape,

37:20

وَ قَالُوْا یٰوَیْلَنَا هٰذَا یَوْمُ الدِّیْنِ(۲۰)

And say: "Ah woe! This is the Day of Reckoning."

37:21

هٰذَا یَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِیْ كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوْنَ۠(۲۱)

"(Yes,) this is the Day of Judgement you had called a lie."

37:22

اُحْشُرُوا الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا وَ اَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَ مَا كَانُوْا یَعْبُدُوْنَۙ(۲۲)

Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped

37:23

مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ فَاهْدُوْهُمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِیْمِ(۲۳)

Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell,

37:24

وَ قِفُوْهُمْ اِنَّهُمْ مَّسْـُٔوْلُوْنَۙ(۲۴)

And detain them, for they will be questioned."

37:25

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُوْنَ(۲۵)

"What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?"

37:26

بَلْ هُمُ الْیَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُوْنَ(۲۶)

They will submit to questioning then,

37:27

وَ اَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوْنَ(۲۷)

And some of them will confront the others,

37:28

قَالُوْۤا اِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَاْتُوْنَنَا عَنِ الْیَمِیْنِ(۲۸)

Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us."

37:29

قَالُوْا بَلْ لَّمْ تَكُوْنُوْا مُؤْمِنِیْنَۚ(۲۹)

They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe.

37:30

وَ مَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَیْكُمْ مِّنْ سُلْطٰنٍۚ-بَلْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا طٰغِیْنَ(۳۰)

We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious.

37:31

فَحَقَّ عَلَیْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَاۤ ﳓ اِنَّا لَذَآىٕقُوْنَ(۳۱)

The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment),

37:32

فَاَغْوَیْنٰكُمْ اِنَّا كُنَّا غٰوِیْنَ(۳۲)

For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray."

37:33

فَاِنَّهُمْ یَوْمَىٕذٍ فِی الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُوْنَ(۳۳)

So, they will become partners in punishment.

37:34

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِیْنَ(۳۴)

That is how We deal with sinners.

37:35

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْۤا اِذَا قِیْلَ لَهُمْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُۙ-یَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَۙ(۳۵)

They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence,

37:36

وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ اَىٕنَّا لَتَارِكُوْۤا اٰلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُوْنٍؕ(۳۶)

And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?"

37:37

بَلْ جَآءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَ صَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ(۳۷)

Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers.

37:38

اِنَّكُمْ لَذَآىٕقُوا الْعَذَابِ الْاَلِیْمِۚ(۳۸)

You will indeed taste a painful punishment,

37:39

وَ مَا تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَۙ(۳۹)

And be rewarded but only for what you had done,

37:40

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ(۴۰)

Except the chosen creatures of God,
