Surah As-Saaffaat

اَلصّٰٓفّٰت

182 Ayaat مکیۃ

Select Surah

37:41

اُولٰٓىٕكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُوْمٌۙ(۴۱)

Whose provision is predetermined --

37:42

فَوَاكِهُۚ-وَ هُمْ مُّكْرَمُوْنَۙ(۴۲)

Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured

37:43

فِیْ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِیْمِۙ(۴۳)

In gardens of delight,

37:44

عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مُّتَقٰبِلِیْنَ(۴۴)

(Sitting) on couches, face to face,

37:45

یُطَافُ عَلَیْهِمْ بِكَاْسٍ مِّنْ مَّعِیْنٍۭۙ(۴۵)

With cups from a flowing stream being passed around,

37:46

بَیْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشّٰرِبِیْنَۚۖ(۴۶)

Clear, delicious to drink,

37:47

لَا فِیْهَا غَوْلٌ وَّ لَا هُمْ عَنْهَا یُنْزَفُوْنَ(۴۷)

Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating,

37:48

وَ عِنْدَهُمْ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرْفِ عِیْنٌۙ(۴۸)

And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes,

37:49

كَاَنَّهُنَّ بَیْضٌ مَّكْنُوْنٌ(۴۹)

Like sheltered eggs in a nest.

37:50

فَاَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ یَّتَسَآءَلُوْنَ(۵۰)

Then one turned to the other in an enquiry.

37:51

قَالَ قَآىٕلٌ مِّنْهُمْ اِنِّیْ كَانَ لِیْ قَرِیْنٌۙ(۵۱)

Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend

37:52

یَّقُوْلُ اَىٕنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِیْنَ(۵۲)

Who used to say: ´Are you one of those who can testify to the truth?

37:53

ءَاِذَا مِتْنَا وَ كُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّ عِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَدِیْنُوْنَ(۵۳)

(Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?´

37:54

قَالَ هَلْ اَنْتُمْ مُّطَّلِعُوْنَ(۵۴)

He said: ´Will you look down?´

37:55

فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَاٰهُ فِیْ سَوَآءِ الْجَحِیْمِ(۵۵)

He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell.

37:56

قَالَ تَاللّٰهِ اِنْ كِدْتَّ لَتُرْدِیْنِۙ(۵۶)

´By God´, he said, ´you had almost ruined me.

37:57

وَ لَوْ لَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّیْ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِیْنَ(۵۷)

Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell).

37:58

اَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَیِّتِیْنَۙ(۵۸)

(Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die

37:59

اِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْاُوْلٰى وَ مَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِیْنَ(۵۹)

Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished?

37:60

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِیْمُ(۶۰)

This will indeed be great happiness.

37:61

لِمِثْلِ هٰذَا فَلْیَعْمَلِ الْعٰمِلُوْنَ(۶۱)

For this the toilers should strive."

37:62

اَذٰلِكَ خَیْرٌ نُّزُلًا اَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّوْمِ(۶۲)

Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum

37:63

اِنَّا جَعَلْنٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظّٰلِمِیْنَ(۶۳)

Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers?

37:64

اِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُ جُ فِیْۤ اَصْلِ الْجَحِیْمِۙ(۶۴)

It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell.

37:65

طَلْعُهَا كَاَنَّهٗ رُءُوْسُ الشَّیٰطِیْنِ(۶۵)

Its spathes are like the prickly pear.

37:66

فَاِنَّهُمْ لَاٰكِلُوْنَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِــٴُـوْنَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُوْنَؕ(۶۶)

They will eat and fill their bellies with it,

37:67

ثُمَّ اِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَیْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِیْمٍۚ(۶۷)

Washing it down with boiling water.

37:68

ثُمَّ اِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَاۡاِلَى الْجَحِیْمِ(۶۸)

Then to Hell they will surely be returned.

37:69

اِنَّهُمْ اَلْفَوْا اٰبَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّیْنَۙ(۶۹)

They had found their fathers astray,

37:70

فَهُمْ عَلٰۤى اٰثٰرِهِمْ یُهْرَعُوْنَ(۷۰)

Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps.

37:71

وَ لَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ اَكْثَرُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَۙ(۷۱)

So had many an earlier people gone astray,

37:72

وَ لَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا فِیْهِمْ مُّنْذِرِیْنَ(۷۲)

And We had sent admonishers to them.

37:73

فَانْظُرْ كَیْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنْذَرِیْنَۙ(۷۳)

Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned,

37:74

اِلَّا عِبَادَ اللّٰهِ الْمُخْلَصِیْنَ۠(۷۴)

Other than the chosen creatures of God.

37:75

وَ لَقَدْ نَادٰىنَا نُوْحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِیْبُوْنَ٘ۖ(۷۵)

Noah had verily called to Us. And how gracious was He who answered (him).

37:76

وَ نَجَّیْنٰهُ وَ اَهْلَهٗ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِیْمِ٘ۖ(۷۶)

We saved him and his family from the great affliction,

37:77

وَ جَعَلْنَا ذُرِّیَّتَهٗ هُمُ الْبٰقِیْنَ٘ۖ(۷۷)

And made his progeny survive,

37:78

وَ تَرَكْنَا عَلَیْهِ فِی الْاٰخِرِیْنَ٘ۖ(۷۸)

And left (his name) for posterity.

37:79

سَلٰمٌ عَلٰى نُوْحٍ فِی الْعٰلَمِیْنَ(۷۹)

Peace on Noah among all men.

37:80

اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ(۸۰)

That is how We reward those who do good.
