اَلْوَاقِعَة

96 Ayaat مکیۃ

56:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

56:1

اِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُۙ(۱)

WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass --

When the Event inevitable cometh to pass,

56:2

لَیْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌۘ(۲)

Which is bound to happen undoubtedly --

Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming.

56:3

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌۙ(۳)

Degrading (some) and exalting (others);

(Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt;

56:4

اِذَا رُجَّتِ الْاَرْضُ رَجًّاۙ(۴)

When the earth is shaken up convulsively,

When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,

56:5

وَّ بُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّاۙ(۵)

The mountains bruised and crushed,

And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms,

56:6

فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنْۢبَثًّاۙ(۶)

Turned to dust, floating in the air,

Becoming dust scattered abroad,

56:7

وَّ كُنْتُمْ اَزْوَاجًا ثَلٰثَةًؕ(۷)

You will become three categories:

And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.

56:8

فَاَصْحٰبُ الْمَیْمَنَةِ ﳔ مَاۤ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَیْمَنَةِؕ(۸)

Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand!

Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

56:9

وَ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَشْــٴَـمَةِ ﳔ مَاۤ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَشْــٴَـمَةِؕ(۹)

Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand!

And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

56:10

وَ السّٰبِقُوْنَ السّٰبِقُوْنَۚۙ(۱۰)

Then the foremost, how pre-excellent,

And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).

56:11

اُولٰٓىٕكَ الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَۚ(۱۱)

Who will be honoured

These will be those Nearest to Allah:

56:12

فِیْ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِیْمِ(۱۲)

In gardens of tranquility;

In Gardens of Bliss:

56:13

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْاَوَّلِیْنَۙ(۱۳)

A number of the earlier peoples,

A number of people from those of old,

56:14

وَ قَلِیْلٌ مِّنَ الْاٰخِرِیْنَؕ(۱۴)

And a few of later ages,

And a few from those of later times.

56:15

عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُوْنَةٍۙ(۱۵)

On couches wrought of gold,

(They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones),

56:16

مُّتَّكِـٕیْنَ عَلَیْهَا مُتَقٰبِلِیْنَ(۱۶)

Reclining face to face.

Reclining on them, facing each other.

56:17

یَطُوْفُ عَلَیْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوْنَۙ(۱۷)

Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them

Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),

56:18

بِاَكْوَابٍ وَّ اَبَارِیْقَ ﳔ وَ كَاْسٍ مِّنْ مَّعِیْنٍۙ(۱۸)

Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine,

With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:

56:19

لَّا یُصَدَّعُوْنَ عَنْهَا وَ لَا یُنْزِفُوْنَۙ(۱۹)

Unheady, uninebriating;

No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:

56:20

وَ فَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا یَتَخَیَّرُوْنَۙ(۲۰)

And such fruits as they fancy,

And with fruits, any that they may select:

56:21

وَ لَحْمِ طَیْرٍ مِّمَّا یَشْتَهُوْنَؕ(۲۱)

Bird meats that they relish,

And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.

56:22

وَ حُوْرٌ عِیْنٌۙ(۲۲)

And companions with big beautiful eyes

And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-

56:23

كَاَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُوْنِۚ(۲۳)

Like pearls within their shells,

Like unto Pearls well-guarded.

56:24

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوْا یَعْمَلُوْنَ(۲۴)

As recompense for all they had done.

A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).

56:25

لَا یَسْمَعُوْنَ فِیْهَا لَغْوًا وَّ لَا تَاْثِیْمًاۙ(۲۵)

They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin,

Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-

56:26

اِلَّا قِیْلًا سَلٰمًا سَلٰمًا(۲۶)

Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation.

Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".

56:27

وَ اَصْحٰبُ الْیَمِیْنِ ﳔ مَاۤ اَصْحٰبُ الْیَمِیْنِؕ(۲۷)

As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand --

The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

56:28

فِیْ سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُوْدٍۙ(۲۸)

They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote

(They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,

56:29

وَّ طَلْحٍ مَّنْضُوْدٍۙ(۲۹)

And acacia covered with heaps of bloom,

Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,-

56:30

وَّ ظِلٍّ مَّمْدُوْدٍۙ(۳۰)

Lengthened shadows,

In shade long-extended,

56:31

وَّ مَآءٍ مَّسْكُوْبٍۙ(۳۱)

Gushing water,

By water flowing constantly,

56:32

وَّ فَاكِهَةٍ كَثِیْرَةٍۙ(۳۲)

And fruits numberless,

And fruit in abundance.

56:33

لَّا مَقْطُوْعَةٍ وَّ لَا مَمْنُوْعَةٍۙ(۳۳)

Unending, unforbidden,

Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden,

56:34

وَّ فُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوْعَةٍؕ(۳۴)

And maidens incomparable.

And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high.

56:35

اِنَّاۤ اَنْشَاْنٰهُنَّ اِنْشَآءًۙ(۳۵)

We have formed them in a distinctive fashion,

We have created (their Companions) of special creation.

56:36

فَجَعَلْنٰهُنَّ اَبْكَارًاۙ(۳۶)

And made them virginal,

And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), -

56:37

عُرُبًا اَتْرَابًاۙ(۳۷)

Loving companions matched in age,

Beloved (by nature), equal in age,-

56:38

لِّاَصْحٰبِ الْیَمِیْنِ(۳۸)ﮒ

For those of the right hand.

For the Companions of the Right Hand.

56:39

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْاَوَّلِیْنَۙ(۳۹)

A crowd of earlier generations

A (goodly) number from those of old,

56:40

وَ ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْاٰخِرِیْنَؕ(۴۰)

And a crowd of the later.

And a (goodly) number from those of later times.
