Surah Saad

صٓ
88 Ayaat    مکیۃ


38:0
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
38:1
صٓ وَ الْقُرْاٰنِ ذِی الذِّكْرِؕ(۱)
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur´an.
38:2
بَلِ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا فِیْ عِزَّةٍ وَّ شِقَاقٍ(۲)
But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility.
38:3
كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِّنْ قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوْا وَّ لَاتَ حِیْنَ مَنَاصٍ(۳)
How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape.
38:4
وَ عَجِبُوْۤا اَنْ جَآءَهُمْ مُّنْذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ٘-وَ قَالَ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ هٰذَا سٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌۖۚ(۴)
They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer.
38:5
اَجَعَلَ الْاٰلِهَةَ اِلٰهًا وَّاحِدًا ۚۖ-اِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَیْءٌ عُجَابٌ(۵)
Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!"
38:6
وَ انْطَلَقَ الْمَلَاُ مِنْهُمْ اَنِ امْشُوْا وَ اصْبِرُوْا عَلٰۤى اٰلِهَتِكُمْ ۚۖ-اِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَیْءٌ یُّرَادُۖۚ(۶)
And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it.
38:7
مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهٰذَا فِی الْمِلَّةِ الْاٰخِرَةِ ۚۖ-اِنْ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا اخْتِلَاقٌۖۚ(۷)
We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication.
38:8
ءَاُنْزِلَ عَلَیْهِ الذِّكْرُ مِنْۢ بَیْنِنَاؕ-بَلْ هُمْ فِیْ شَكٍّ مِّنْ ذِكْرِیْۚ-بَلْ لَّمَّا یَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابِؕ(۸)
To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet!
38:9
اَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَآىٕنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ الْعَزِیْزِ الْوَهَّابِۚ(۹)
Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent?
38:10
اَمْ لَهُمْ مُّلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا- فَلْیَرْتَقُوْا فِی الْاَسْبَابِ(۱۰)
Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens).
38:11
جُنْدٌ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُوْمٌ مِّنَ الْاَحْزَابِ(۱۱)
They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes.
38:12
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوْحٍ وَّ عَادٌ وَّ فِرْعَوْنُ ذُو الْاَوْتَادِۙ(۱۲)
Even before them the people of Noah, ´Ad, the mighty Pharoah,
38:13
وَ ثَمُوْدُ وَ قَوْمُ لُوْطٍ وَّ اَصْحٰبُ لْــٴَـیْكَةِؕ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ الْاَحْزَابُ(۱۳)
And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes.
38:14
اِنْ كُلٌّ اِلَّا كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ۠(۱۴)
Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified.
38:15
وَ مَا یَنْظُرُ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ اِلَّا صَیْحَةً وَّاحِدَةً مَّا لَهَا مِنْ فَوَاقٍ(۱۵)
They await but a single blast which will not be repeated.
38:16
وَ قَالُوْا رَبَّنَا عَجِّلْ لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ یَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ(۱۶)
Still they say: "O Lord, give us our share before the Day of Reckoning."
38:17
اِصْبِرْ عَلٰى مَا یَقُوْلُوْنَ وَ اذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوٗدَ ذَا الْاَیْدِۚ-اِنَّهٗۤ اَوَّابٌ(۱۷)
Bear with patience what they say, and remember Our votary David, man of strength. He surely turned to Us in penitence.
38:18
اِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا الْجِبَالَ مَعَهٗ یُسَبِّحْنَ بِالْعَشِیِّ وَ الْاِشْرَاقِۙ(۱۸)
We subjugated the chiefs (of tribes) to struggle day and night with him,
38:19
وَ الطَّیْرَ مَحْشُوْرَةًؕ-كُلٌّ لَّهٗۤ اَوَّابٌ(۱۹)
And the levied Tair. They were all obedient to him.
38:20
وَ شَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهٗ وَ اٰتَیْنٰهُ الْحِكْمَةَ وَ فَصْلَ الْخِطَابِ(۲۰)
So We further strengthened his kingdom, and bestowed wisdom on him, and judgement in legal matters.
38:21
وَ هَلْ اَتٰىكَ نَبَؤُا الْخَصْمِۘ-اِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا الْمِحْرَابَۙ(۲۱)
Have you heard of the litigants who jumped over the wall into his chamber?
38:22
اِذْ دَخَلُوْا عَلٰى دَاوٗدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ قَالُوْا لَا تَخَفْۚ-خَصْمٰنِ بَغٰى بَعْضُنَا عَلٰى بَعْضٍ فَاحْكُمْ بَیْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَ لَا تُشْطِطْ وَ اهْدِنَاۤ اِلٰى سَوَآءِ الصِّرَاطِ(۲۲)
When they came before David, he was frightened of them. "Do not be afraid," they said. "The two of us are disputing the wrong one has done the other. So judge between us with equity, and do not be unjust, and guide us to the right path.
38:23
اِنَّ هٰذَاۤ اَخِیْ- لَهٗ تِسْعٌ وَّ تِسْعُوْنَ نَعْجَةً وَّلِیَ نَعْجَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ- فَقَالَ اَكْفِلْنِیْهَا وَ عَزَّنِیْ فِی الْخِطَابِ(۲۳)
This man here is my brother. He has ninety and nine ewes while I have only one. He demands that I should give him my ewe, and wants to get the better of me in argument."
38:24
قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ اِلٰى نِعَاجِهٖؕ-وَ اِنَّ كَثِیْرًا مِّنَ الْخُلَطَآءِ لَیَبْغِیْ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ اِلَّا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَ قَلِیْلٌ مَّا هُمْؕ-وَ ظَنَّ دَاوٗدُ اَنَّمَا فَتَنّٰهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهٗ وَ خَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَّ اَنَابَ۩(۲۴)
(David) said: "He is unjust in demanding your ewe to add to his (many) ewes. Many partners are surely -- unjust to one another, except those who believe and do the right; but there are only a few of them." It occurred to David that he was being tried by Us, and he begged his Lord to forgive him, and fell down in homage and repented.
38:25
فَغَفَرْنَا لَهٗ ذٰلِكَؕ-وَ اِنَّ لَهٗ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفٰى وَ حُسْنَ مَاٰبٍ(۲۵)
So We forgave him. He has surely a high rank with Us and an excellent place of return.
38:26
یٰدَاوٗدُ اِنَّا جَعَلْنٰكَ خَلِیْفَةً فِی الْاَرْضِ فَاحْكُمْ بَیْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَ لَا تَتَّبِـعِ الْهَوٰى فَیُضِلَّكَ عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِؕ-اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ یَضِلُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِیْدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوْا یَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ۠(۲۶)
"O David, We have made you trustee on the earth. So judge between men equitably, and do not follow your lust lest it should lead you astray from the way of God. Surely for those who go astray from the way of God, is severe punishment, for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning.
38:27
وَ مَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَآءَ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًاؕ-ذٰلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْاۚ-فَوَیْلٌ لِّلَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا مِنَ النَّارِؕ(۲۷)
We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire.
38:28
اَمْ نَجْعَلُ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ كَالْمُفْسِدِیْنَ فِی الْاَرْضِ٘-اَمْ نَجْعَلُ الْمُتَّقِیْنَ كَالْفُجَّارِ(۲۸)
Should We equate those who do the right with those who spread corruption in the land? Should We make those who are morally integrated equal to those who seek disintegration?
38:29
كِتٰبٌ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ اِلَیْكَ مُبٰرَكٌ لِّیَدَّبَّرُوْۤا اٰیٰتِهٖ وَ لِیَتَذَكَّرَ اُولُوا الْاَلْبَابِ(۲۹)
We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect.
38:30
وَ وَهَبْنَا لِدَاوٗدَ سُلَیْمٰنَؕ-نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُؕ-اِنَّهٗۤ اَوَّابٌؕ(۳۰)
We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence.
38:31
اِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَیْهِ بِالْعَشِیِّ الصّٰفِنٰتُ الْجِیَادُۙ(۳۱)
When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him,
38:32
فَقَالَ اِنِّیْۤ اَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ الْخَیْرِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ رَبِّیْۚ-حَتّٰى تَوَارَتْ بِالْحِجَابِٙ(۳۲)
He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said):
38:33
رُدُّوْهَا عَلَیَّؕ-فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًۢا بِالسُّوْقِ وَ الْاَعْنَاقِ(۳۳)
"Bring them back to me," and he began to rub and stroke their shanks and necks.
38:34
وَ لَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَیْمٰنَ وَ اَلْقَیْنَا عَلٰى كُرْسِیِّهٖ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ اَنَابَ(۳۴)
We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God
38:35
قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِیْ وَهَبْ لِیْ مُلْكًا لَّا یَنْۢبَغِیْ لِاَحَدٍ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِیْۚ-اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ(۳۵)
Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower."
38:36
فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّیْحَ تَجْرِیْ بِاَمْرِهٖ رُخَآءً حَیْثُ اَصَابَۙ(۳۶)
So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished;
38:37
وَ الشَّیٰطِیْنَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَّ غَوَّاصٍۙ(۳۷)
And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds,
38:38
وَّ اٰخَرِیْنَ مُقَرَّنِیْنَ فِی الْاَصْفَادِ(۳۸)
And many others bound in bond.
38:39
هٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَامْنُنْ اَوْ اَمْسِكْ بِغَیْرِ حِسَابٍ(۳۹)
"This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning."
38:40
وَ اِنَّ لَهٗ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفٰى وَ حُسْنَ مَاٰبٍ۠(۴۰)
He has a high position with Us and an excellent abode.
