Surah Maryam
مَرْيَم
98 Ayaat مکیۃ
وَ اذْكُرْ فِی الْكِتٰبِ اِبْرٰهِیْمَ۬ؕ-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ صِدِّیْقًا نَّبِیًّا(۴۱)
Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet.
And mention in the Book Abraham; surely he was a true man, a Prophet.
اِذْ قَالَ لِاَبِیْهِ یٰۤاَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا یَسْمَعُ وَ لَا یُبْصِرُ وَ لَا یُغْنِیْ عَنْكَ شَیْــٴًـا(۴۲)
Remember, when he said to his father: "O my father, why do you worship that which can neither hear nor see nor even profit you the least?
When he said to his father, 'Father, why worshippest thou that which neither hears nor sees, nor avails thee anything?
یٰۤاَبَتِ اِنِّیْ قَدْ جَآءَنِیْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ یَاْتِكَ فَاتَّبِعْنِیْۤ اَهْدِكَ صِرَاطًا سَوِیًّا(۴۳)
O my father, to me has come such knowledge as never came to you. So follow me that I may show you the right path.
Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path.
یٰۤاَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ الشَّیْطٰنَؕ-اِنَّ الشَّیْطٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ عَصِیًّا(۴۴)
Why do you worship Satan, O father? Verily Satan was disobedient to Ar-Rahman.
Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful.
یٰۤاَبَتِ اِنِّیْۤ اَخَافُ اَنْ یَّمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ الرَّحْمٰنِ فَتَكُوْنَ لِلشَّیْطٰنِ وَلِیًّا(۴۵)
O my father, I fear lest a punishment from Ar-Rahman should befall you, and you should become a friend of the Devil."
Father, I fear that some chastisement from the All-merciful will smite thee, so that thou becomest a friend to Satan.
قَالَ اَرَاغِبٌ اَنْتَ عَنْ اٰلِهَتِیْ یٰۤاِبْرٰهِیْمُۚ-لَىٕنْ لَّمْ تَنْتَهِ لَاَرْجُمَنَّكَ وَ اهْجُرْنِیْ مَلِیًّا(۴۶)
He said: "Are you averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall have you stoned to death. So go away for a while from me."
Said he, 'What, art thou shrinking from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if thou givest not over, I shall stone thee; so forsake me now for some while.'
قَالَ سَلٰمٌ عَلَیْكَۚ-سَاَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّیْؕ-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ بِیْ حَفِیًّا(۴۷)
He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me.
He said, 'Peace be upon thee! I will ask my Lord to forgive thee; surely He is ever gracious to me.
وَ اَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَ مَا تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَ اَدْعُوْا رَبِّیْ ﳲ عَسٰۤى اَلَّاۤ اَكُوْنَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّیْ شَقِیًّا(۴۸)
I will leave you and those you invoke apart from God, and pray to my Lord. Haply in praying to my Lord I will not be deprived."
Now I will go apart from you and that you call upon, apart from God; I will call upon my Lord, and haply I shall not be, in calling upon my Lord, unprosperous.
فَلَمَّا اعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَ مَا یَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِۙ-وَهَبْنَا لَهٗۤ اِسْحٰقَ وَ یَعْقُوْبَؕ-وَ كُلًّا جَعَلْنَا نَبِیًّا(۴۹)
Thus, when he left them and the (idols) they worshipped, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet,
So, when he went apart from them and that they were serving, apart from God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a Prophet;
وَ وَهَبْنَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ رَّحْمَتِنَا وَ جَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِیًّا۠(۵۰)
And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown.
and We gave them of Our mercy, and We appointed unto them a tongue of truthfulness, sublime.
وَ اذْكُرْ فِی الْكِتٰبِ مُوْسٰۤى٘-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ مُخْلَصًا وَّ كَانَ رَسُوْلًا نَّبِیًّا(۵۱)
Commemorate Moses in the Book. He was a chosen one, both an apostle and a prophet.
And mention in the Book Moses; he was devoted, and he was a Messenger, a Prophet.
وَ نَادَیْنٰهُ مِنْ جَانِبِ الطُّوْرِ الْاَیْمَنِ وَ قَرَّبْنٰهُ نَجِیًّا(۵۲)
We called him from the right side of the Mount, and brought him close for communion;
We called to him from the right side Of the Mount, and We brought him near in communion.
وَ وَهَبْنَا لَهٗ مِنْ رَّحْمَتِنَاۤ اَخَاهُ هٰرُوْنَ نَبِیًّا(۵۳)
And bestowed on him his brother Aaron, a prophet, through Our benevolence.
And We gave him his brother Aaron, of Our mercy, a Prophet.
وَ اذْكُرْ فِی الْكِتٰبِ اِسْمٰعِیْلَ٘-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ صَادِقَ الْوَعْدِ وَ كَانَ رَسُوْلًا نَّبِیًّاۚ(۵۴)
Commemorate Ishmael in the Book. He was true of his promise, and a messenger, a prophet.
And mention in the Book Ishmael; he was true to his promise, and he was a Messenger, a Prophet.
وَ كَانَ یَاْمُرُ اَهْلَهٗ بِالصَّلٰوةِ وَ الزَّكٰوةِ۪-وَ كَانَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهٖ مَرْضِیًّا(۵۵)
He enjoined on his household worship and zakat, and he was obedient to his Lord.
He bade his people to pray and to give the alms, and he was pleasing to his Lord.
وَ اذْكُرْ فِی الْكِتٰبِ اِدْرِیْسَ٘-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ صِدِّیْقًا نَّبِیًّاۗۙ(۵۶)
Commemorate Enoch in the Book. He was a truthful person and a prophet,
And mention in the Book Idris; he was a true man, a Prophet.
We raised him up to a high place.
اُولٰٓىٕكَ الَّذِیْنَ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِمْ مِّنَ النَّبِیّٖنَ مِنْ ذُرِّیَّةِ اٰدَمَۗ-وَ مِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوْحٍ٘-وَّ مِنْ ذُرِّیَّةِ اِبْرٰهِیْمَ وَ اِسْرَآءِیْلَ٘-وَ مِمَّنْ هَدَیْنَا وَ اجْتَبَیْنَاؕ-اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِمْ اٰیٰتُ الرَّحْمٰنِ خَرُّوْا سُجَّدًا وَّ بُكِیًّا۩(۵۸)
These are (some of) those who were favoured by God among the prophets of the progeny of Adam, and of those We bore in the ark with Noah, and the offspring of Abraham and Israel, and of those We guided and We chose, for they bowed weeping in adoration when the revelations of Ar-Rahman were recited to them.
These are they whom God has blessed among the Prophets of the seed of Adam, and of those We bore with Noah, and of the seed of Abraham and Israel, and of those We guided and chose. When the signs of the All-merciful were recited to them, they fell down prostrate, weeping.
فَخَلَفَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ اَضَاعُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَ اتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوٰتِ فَسَوْفَ یَلْقَوْنَ غَیًّاۙ(۵۹)
But they are succeeded by a generation who neglect their devotional obligations and follow only earthly pleasures; but they will reach the wrong road and meet destruction,
Then there succeeded after them a succession who wasted the prayer, and followed lusts; so they shall encounter error
اِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَ اٰمَنَ وَ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَاُولٰٓىٕكَ یَدْخُلُوْنَ الْجَنَّةَ وَ لَا یُظْلَمُوْنَ شَیْــٴًـاۙ(۶۰)
Except those who repent and come to believe and do the right. These will enter Paradise and will not be wronged the least
save him who repents, and believes, and does a righteous deed; those -- they shall enter Paradise, and they shall not be wronged anything;
جَنّٰتِ عَدْنِ ﹰالَّتِیْ وَعَدَ الرَّحْمٰنُ عِبَادَهٗ بِالْغَیْبِؕ-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ وَعْدُهٗ مَاْتِیًّا(۶۱)
In the gardens of Eden promised by Ar-Rahman to His creatures in the unknown (future). Verily His promise will come to pass.
Gardens of Eden that the All-merciful promised His servants in the Unseen; His promise is ever performed.
لَا یَسْمَعُوْنَ فِیْهَا لَغْوًا اِلَّا سَلٰمًاؕ-وَ لَهُمْ رِزْقُهُمْ فِیْهَا بُكْرَةً وَّ عَشِیًّا(۶۲)
They will hear no vain talk there, but only salutations of peace, and they will have their sustenance morning and evening."
There they shall hear no idle talk, but only 'Peace.' There they shall have their provision at dawn and evening.
تِلْكَ الْجَنَّةُ الَّتِیْ نُوْرِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَنْ كَانَ تَقِیًّا(۶۳)
This is the Paradise those of Our creatures will inherit who take heed and fear the displeasure of God.
That is Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our servants who are godfearing.
وَ مَا نَتَنَزَّلُ اِلَّا بِاَمْرِ رَبِّكَۚ-لَهٗ مَا بَیْنَ اَیْدِیْنَا وَ مَا خَلْفَنَا وَ مَا بَیْنَ ذٰلِكَۚ-وَ مَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِیًّاۚ(۶۴)
"We do not come down," (will the angels say) "but only by your Lord´s command." To Him belongs whatever lies before us and behind us, and the space in between. Your Lord does not ever forget:
We come not down, save at the commandment of thy Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us, and all that is behind us, and all between that.
رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا فَاعْبُدْهُ وَ اصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَادَتِهٖؕ-هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهٗ سَمِیًّا۠(۶۵)
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them. Therefore worship Him, and be constant in His worship. Do you know any namesake of His?
And thy Lord is never forgetful, Lord He of the heavens and earth and all that is between them. So serve Him, and be thou patient in His service; knowest thou any that can be named with His Name?
وَ یَقُوْلُ الْاِنْسَانُ ءَاِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ اُخْرَ جُ حَیًّا(۶۶)
Yet man says: "When I am dead, will I come to life again?"
Man says, 'What, when I am dead shall I then be brought forth alive?'
اَوَ لَا یَذْكُرُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَنَّا خَلَقْنٰهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَ لَمْ یَكُ شَیْــٴًـا(۶۷)
Does man not remember that before We created him he was nothing?
Will not man remember that We created him aforetime, when he was nothing?
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ وَ الشَّیٰطِیْنَ ثُمَّ لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّمَ جِثِیًّاۚ(۶۸)
By your Lord, We shall gather them and the devils together, then bring them crawling on their knees around Hell.
Now, by thy Lord, We shall surely muster them, and the Satans, then We shall parade them about Gehenna hobbling on their knees.
ثُمَّ لَنَنْزِعَنَّ مِنْ كُلِّ شِیْعَةٍ اَیُّهُمْ اَشَدُّ عَلَى الرَّحْمٰنِ عِتِیًّاۚ(۶۹)
We shall pull out of every section those who were most perversely rebellious against Ar-Rahman.
Then We shall pluck forth from every party whichever of them was the most hardened in disdain of the All-merciful;
ثُمَّ لَنَحْنُ اَعْلَمُ بِالَّذِیْنَ هُمْ اَوْلٰى بِهَا صِلِیًّا(۷۰)
We know best who deserve to be burnt in (the Fire).
then We shall know very well those most deserving to burn there.
وَ اِنْ مِّنْكُمْ اِلَّا وَارِدُهَاۚ-كَانَ عَلٰى رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِیًّاۚ(۷۱)
There is not one among you who will not reach it. Your Lord has made this incumbent on Himself.
Not one of you there is, but he shall go down to it; that for thy Lord is a thing decreed, determined.
ثُمَّ نُنَجِّی الَّذِیْنَ اتَّقَوْا وَّ نَذَرُ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ فِیْهَا جِثِیًّا(۷۲)
We shall deliver those who took heed for themselves, and leave the evil-doers kneeling there.
Then We shall deliver those that were godfearing; and the evildoers We shall leave there, hobbling on their knees.
وَ اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِمْ اٰیٰتُنَا بَیِّنٰتٍ قَالَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا لِلَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤاۙ-اَیُّ الْفَرِیْقَیْنِ خَیْرٌ مَّقَامًا وَّ اَحْسَنُ نَدِیًّا(۷۳)
When Our lucid revelations are read out to them, the infidels say to those who believe: "Which of the two groups is better in standing, and whose company is more excellent?"
When Our signs are recited to them as clear signs, the unbelievers say to the believers, 'Which of the two parties is better in station, fairer in assembly?'
وَ كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِّنْ قَرْنٍ هُمْ اَحْسَنُ اَثَاثًا وَّ رِءْیًا(۷۴)
How many generations that had far more wealth and ostentation have We laid low before them!
And how many a generation We destroyed before them, who were fairer in furnishing and outward show!
قُلْ مَنْ كَانَ فِی الضَّلٰلَةِ فَلْیَمْدُدْ لَهُ الرَّحْمٰنُ مَدًّاۚ۬-حَتّٰۤى اِذَا رَاَوْا مَا یُوْعَدُوْنَ اِمَّا الْعَذَابَ وَ اِمَّا السَّاعَةَؕ-فَسَیَعْلَمُوْنَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَّ اَضْعَفُ جُنْدًا(۷۵)
Say: "Ar-Rahman extends the life of those who are astray until they come to realise what had been promised them was either (physical) affliction or (the terror) of Resurrection. Then will they know who is worse in position, and who is weak in supporters.
Say: 'Whosoever is in error, let the All-merciful prolong his term for him! Till, when they see that they were threatened, whether the chastisement, or the Hour, then they shall surely know who is worse in place, and who is weaker in hosts.'
وَ یَزِیْدُ اللّٰهُ الَّذِیْنَ اهْتَدَوْا هُدًىؕ-وَ الْبٰقِیٰتُ الصّٰلِحٰتُ خَیْرٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَّ خَیْرٌ مَّرَدًّا(۷۶)
God gives greater guidance to those who are guided; and good deeds that endure are better with your Lord for reward, and better for consequence.
And God shall increase those who were guided in guidance; and the abiding things, the deeds of righteousness, are better with thy Lord in reward, and better in return
اَفَرَءَیْتَ الَّذِیْ كَفَرَ بِاٰیٰتِنَا وَ قَالَ لَاُوْتَیَنَّ مَالًا وَّ وَلَدًاؕ(۷۷)
Have you seen him who denies Our revelations, and says: "I will certainly be given wealth and children."
Hast thou seen him who disbelieves in Our signs and says, 'Assuredly I shall be given wealth and children'?
اَطَّلَعَ الْغَیْبَ اَمِ اتَّخَذَ عِنْدَ الرَّحْمٰنِ عَهْدًاۙ(۷۸)
Has he peeped into the Unknown, or obtained a promise from Ar-Rahman?
What, has he observed the Unseen, or taken a covenant with the All-merciful?
كَلَّاؕ-سَنَكْتُبُ مَا یَقُوْلُ وَ نَمُدُّ لَهٗ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ مَدًّاۙ(۷۹)
Never so. We shall certainly write down what he says, and prolong the extent of his punishment.
No, indeed! We shall assuredly write down all that he says, and We shall prolong for him the chastisement;
