Surah Ibrahim
اِبرٰهِيْم
52 Ayaat مکیۃ
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِیْ وَ لِوَالِدَیَّ وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ یَوْمَ یَقُوْمُ الْحِسَابُ۠(۴۱)
O Lord, forgive me, my parents and the faithful on the Day the reckoning is done."
"O our Lord! cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness - me, my parents, and (all) Believers, on the Day that the Reckoning will be established!
وَ لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللّٰهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا یَعْمَلُ الظّٰلِمُوْنَ۬ؕ -اِنَّمَا یُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِیَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِیْهِ الْاَبْصَارُۙ(۴۲)
Think not God is oblivious of the deeds of the wicked. He has only allowed them respite till the Day on which all eyes would stare aghast,
Think not that Allah doth not heed the deeds of those who do wrong. He but giveth them respite against a Day when the eyes will fixedly stare in horror,-
مُهْطِعِیْنَ مُقْنِعِیْ رُءُوْسِهِمْ لَا یَرْتَدُّ اِلَیْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْۚ -وَ اَفْـٕدَتُهُمْ هَوَآءٌؕ(۴۳)
(And) they would hasten forward, heads lifted upwards, gazes fixed, and emptied out their hearts.
They running forward with necks outstretched, their heads uplifted, their gaze returning not towards them, and their hearts a (gaping) void!
وَ اَنْذِرِ النَّاسَ یَوْمَ یَاْتِیْهِمُ الْعَذَابُ فَیَقُوْلُ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا رَبَّنَاۤ اَخِّرْنَاۤ اِلٰۤى اَجَلٍ قَرِیْبٍۙ- نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَ نَتَّبِـعِ الرُّسُلَؕ- اَوَ لَمْ تَكُوْنُوْۤا اَقْسَمْتُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلُ مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ زَوَالٍۙ(۴۴)
Warn the people of that Day when the punishment would be inflicted upon them. Then will the wicked say: "O our Lord, give us respite a while more. We shall heed Your call and follow the apostles." (But they will be told,): "Are you not those who used to swear: ´There is no reverse for us?´
So warn mankind of the Day when the Wrath will reach them: then will the wrong-doers say: "Our Lord! respite us (if only) for a short term: we will answer Thy call, and follow the messengers!" "What! were ye not wont to swear aforetime that ye should suffer no decline?
وَّ سَكَنْتُمْ فِیْ مَسٰكِنِ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْۤا اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَ تَبَیَّنَ لَكُمْ كَیْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَ ضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ الْاَمْثَالَ(۴۵)
Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you."
"And ye dwelt in the dwellings of men who wronged their own souls; ye were clearly shown how We dealt with them; and We put forth (many) parables in your behoof!"
وَ قَدْ مَكَرُوْا مَكْرَهُمْ وَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ مَكْرُهُمْؕ- وَ اِنْ كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُوْلَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ(۴۶)
Still they are plotting their plots, but evident are their plots to God, even though they are so adroit as to make the mountains move.
Mighty indeed were the plots which they made, but their plots were (well) within the sight of Allah, even though they were such as to shake the hills!
فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللّٰهَ مُخْلِفَ وَعْدِهٖ رُسُلَهٗؕ- اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَزِیْزٌ ذُو انْتِقَامٍؕ(۴۷)
Think not that God would go back on His promise (made) to the apostles. Indeed God is mighty, the Lord of retribution.
Never think that Allah would fail his messengers in His promise: for Allah is Exalted in power, - the Lord of Retribution.
یَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْاَرْضُ غَیْرَ الْاَرْضِ وَ السَّمٰوٰتُ وَ بَرَزُوْا لِلّٰهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ(۴۸)
The day when the earth will he replaced by some other than the earth, as will be the skies, and every one will appear before God the one and omnipotent,
One day the earth will be changed to a different earth, and so will be the heavens, and (men) will be marshalled forth, before Allah, the One, the Irresistible;
وَ تَرَى الْمُجْرِمِیْنَ یَوْمَىٕذٍ مُّقَرَّنِیْنَ فِی الْاَصْفَادِۚ(۴۹)
You will see the wicked on that day bound together in chains.
And thou wilt see the sinners that day bound together in fetters;-
سَرَابِیْلُهُمْ مِّنْ قَطِرَانٍ وَّ تَغْشٰى وُجُوْهَهُمُ النَّارُۙ(۵۰)
Of molten pitch shall be their garments, their faces covered with flames,
Their garments of liquid pitch, and their faces covered with Fire;
لِیَجْزِیَ اللّٰهُ كُلَّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْؕ- اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِیْعُ الْحِسَابِ(۵۱)
That God may reward each soul for its deeds. Indeed God is swift at reckoning!
That Allah may requite each soul according to its deserts; and verily Allah is swift in calling to account.
هٰذَا بَلٰغٌ لِّلنَّاسِ وَ لِیُنْذَرُوْا بِهٖ وَ لِیَعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّمَا هُوَ اِلٰهٌ وَّاحِدٌ وَّ لِیَذَّكَّرَ اُولُوا الْاَلْبَابِ۠(۵۲)
This is a message for mankind that they may take a warning from it, and may know that He is the one and only God, and that men of wisdom may reflect.
Here is a Message for mankind: Let them take warning therefrom, and let them know that He is (no other than) One Allah: let men of understanding take heed.
