Surah Ghafir
اَلْمُؤْمِن
85 Ayaat مکیۃ
وَ یُرِیْكُمْ اٰیٰتِهٖ ﳓ فَاَیَّ اٰیٰتِ اللّٰهِ تُنْكِرُوْنَ(۸۱)
He shows His signs. How many of God´s signs will you then deny?
And He shows you (always) His Signs: then which of the Signs of Allah will ye deny?
اَفَلَمْ یَسِیْرُوْا فِی الْاَرْضِ فَیَنْظُرُوْا كَیْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْؕ-كَانُوْۤا اَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَ اَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَّ اٰثَارًا فِی الْاَرْضِ فَمَاۤ اَغْنٰى عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُوْا یَكْسِبُوْنَ(۸۲)
Have they not travelled in the land and seen how was the end of those before them who were far more numerous than they and more strong, and have left behind them traces on the earth. And yet nothing of what they did profited them.
Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were more numerous than these and superior in strength and in the traces (they have left) in the land: Yet all that they accomplished was of no profit to them.
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَیِّنٰتِ فَرِحُوْا بِمَا عِنْدَهُمْ مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ وَ حَاقَ بِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوْا بِهٖ یَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ(۸۳)
For when Our apostles came to them with clear proofs, they boasted and exulted at the knowledge they possessed; but what they used to mock recoiled back on them,
For when their messengers came to them with Clear Signs, they exulted in such knowledge (and skill) as they had; but that very (Wrath) at which they were wont to scoff hemmed them in.
فَلَمَّا رَاَوْا بَاْسَنَا قَالُوْۤا اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَحْدَهٗ وَ كَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهٖ مُشْرِكِیْنَ(۸۴)
So that when they saw Our might, they said: "We believe in God the one and single, and reject those we associated (with Him)." --
But when they saw Our Punishment, they said: "We believe in Allah,- the one Allah - and we reject the partners we used to join with Him."
فَلَمْ یَكُ یَنْفَعُهُمْ اِیْمَانُهُمْ لَمَّا رَاَوْا بَاْسَنَاؕ-سُنَّتَ اللّٰهِ الَّتِیْ قَدْ خَلَتْ فِیْ عِبَادِهٖۚ-وَ خَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ۠(۸۵)
But then their affirming served them nothing after they had seen Our torment. This is the law of God that has prevailed among His creatures, Then the unbelievers went to rack and ruin.
But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)!
