اَلطَّارِق

86:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

86:1

وَ السَّمَآءِ وَ الطَّارِقِۙ(۱)

I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star --

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);-

86:2

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الطَّارِقُۙ(۲)

How will you comprehend what the night star is?

And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?-

86:3

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُۙ(۳)

It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness --

(It is) the Star of piercing brightness;-

86:4

اِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَیْهَا حَافِظٌؕ(۴)

That over each soul there is a guardian.

There is no soul but has a protector over it.

86:5

فَلْیَنْظُرِ الْاِنْسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَؕ(۵)

Let man consider what he was made of:

Now let man but think from what he is created!

86:6

خُلِقَ مِنْ مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍۙ(۶)

He was created of spurting water

He is created from a drop emitted-

86:7

یَّخْرُ جُ مِنْۢ بَیْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَ التَّرَآىٕبِؕ(۷)

Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs.

Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:

86:8

اِنَّهٗ عَلٰى رَجْعِهٖ لَقَادِرٌؕ(۸)

God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead).

Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)!

86:9

یَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَآىٕرُۙ(۹)

The day all secrets are examined

The Day that (all) things secret will be tested,

86:10

فَمَا لَهٗ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَّ لَا نَاصِرٍؕ(۱۰)

He will have no strength or helper.

(Man) will have no power, and no helper.

86:11

وَ السَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِۙ(۱۱)

So I call to witness the rain-producing sky,

By the Firmament which returns (in its round),

86:12

وَ الْاَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِۙ(۱۲)

And the earth which opens up (with verdure),

And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),-

86:13

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌۙ(۱۳)

That this (Qur´an) is a decisive word

Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil):

86:14

وَّ مَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِؕ(۱۴)

And no trifle.

It is not a thing for amusement.

86:15

اِنَّهُمْ یَكِیْدُوْنَ كَیْدًاۙ(۱۵)

They are hatching up a plot,

As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,

86:16

وَّ اَكِیْدُ كَیْدًاۚۖ(۱۶)

But I too am devising a plan.

And I am planning a scheme.

86:17

فَمَهِّلِ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ اَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَیْدًا۠(۱۷)

So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while.

Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile).
