اَلتَّكَاثُر

8 Ayaat مکیۃ

102:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

102:1

اَلْهٰىكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُۙ(۱)

THE AVARICE OF plenitude keeps you occupied

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),

102:2

حَتّٰى زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَؕ(۲)

Till you reach the grave.

Until ye visit the graves.

102:3

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَۙ(۳)

But you will come to know soon; --

But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).

102:4

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَؕ(۴)

Indeed you will come to know soon.

Again, ye soon shall know!

102:5

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ عِلْمَ الْیَقِیْنِؕ(۵)

And yet if you knew with positive knowledge

Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)

102:6

لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِیْمَۙ(۶)

You have indeed to behold Hell;

Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!

102:7

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَیْنَ الْیَقِیْۙنِ(۷)

Then you will see it with the eye of certainty.

Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!

102:8

ثُمَّ لَتُسْــٴَـلُنَّ یَوْمَىٕذٍ عَنِ النَّعِیْمِ۠(۸)

Then on that day you will surely be asked about the verity of pleasures.

Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!).
