اَلشَّمْس

15 Ayaat مکیۃ

91:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

91:1

وَ الشَّمْسِ وَ ضُحٰىهَاﭪ(۱)

I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour,

By the sun and his morning brightness

91:2

وَ الْقَمَرِ اِذَا تَلٰىهَاﭪ(۲)

And the moon as she follows in his wake,

and by the moon when she follows him,

91:3

وَ النَّهَارِ اِذَا جَلّٰىهَاﭪ(۳)

The day when it reveals his radiance,

and by the day when it displays him

91:4

وَ الَّیْلِ اِذَا یَغْشٰىهَاﭪ(۴)

The night when it covers him over,

and by the night when it enshrouds him!

91:5

وَ السَّمَآءِ وَ مَا بَنٰىهَاﭪ(۵)

The heavens and its architecture,

By the heaven and That which built it

91:6

وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا طَحٰىهَاﭪ(۶)

The earth and its spreading out,

and by the earth and That which extended it!

91:7

وَ نَفْسٍ وَّ مَا سَوّٰىهَاﭪ(۷)

The soul and how it was integrated

By the soul, and That which shaped it

91:8

فَاَلْهَمَهَا فُجُوْرَهَا وَ تَقْوٰىهَاﭪ(۸)

And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it.

and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing!

91:9

قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكّٰىهَاﭪ(۹)

He who nourishes it will surely be successful,

Prosperous is he who purifies it,

91:10

وَ قَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسّٰىهَاؕ(۱۰)

And he who confines it will surely come to grief.

and failed has he who seduces it.

91:11

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ بِطَغْوٰىهَاۤﭪ(۱۱)

The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness

Thamood cried lies in their insolence

91:12

اِذِ انْۢبَعَثَ اَشْقٰىهَاﭪ(۱۲)

When among them the great wretch arose,

when the most wretched of them uprose,

91:13

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ نَاقَةَ اللّٰهِ وَ سُقْیٰهَاؕ(۱۳)

And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God´s she-camel, let her drink."

then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!'

91:14

فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَعَقَرُوْهَاﭪ--فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَیْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْۢبِهِمْ فَسَوّٰىهَاﭪ(۱۴)

But they called him a liar and hamstrung her. So God obliterated them for their crime, and (destroyed) all of them alike.

But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them:

91:15

وَ لَا یَخَافُ عُقْبٰهَا۠(۱۵)

He does not fear the consequence.

and He fears not the issue thereof.
