Surah ash-Shams

اَلشَّمْس
15 Ayaat    مکیۃ


91:0
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
91:1
وَ الشَّمْسِ وَ ضُحٰىهَاﭪ(۱)
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour,
91:2
وَ الْقَمَرِ اِذَا تَلٰىهَاﭪ(۲)
And the moon as she follows in his wake,
91:3
وَ النَّهَارِ اِذَا جَلّٰىهَاﭪ(۳)
The day when it reveals his radiance,
91:4
وَ الَّیْلِ اِذَا یَغْشٰىهَاﭪ(۴)
The night when it covers him over,
91:5
وَ السَّمَآءِ وَ مَا بَنٰىهَاﭪ(۵)
The heavens and its architecture,
91:6
وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا طَحٰىهَاﭪ(۶)
The earth and its spreading out,
91:7
وَ نَفْسٍ وَّ مَا سَوّٰىهَاﭪ(۷)
The soul and how it was integrated
91:8
فَاَلْهَمَهَا فُجُوْرَهَا وَ تَقْوٰىهَاﭪ(۸)
And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it.
91:9
قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكّٰىهَاﭪ(۹)
He who nourishes it will surely be successful,
91:10
وَ قَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسّٰىهَاؕ(۱۰)
And he who confines it will surely come to grief.
91:11
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ بِطَغْوٰىهَاۤﭪ(۱۱)
The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness
91:12
اِذِ انْۢبَعَثَ اَشْقٰىهَاﭪ(۱۲)
When among them the great wretch arose,
91:13
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ نَاقَةَ اللّٰهِ وَ سُقْیٰهَاؕ(۱۳)
And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God´s she-camel, let her drink."
91:14
فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَعَقَرُوْهَاﭪ--فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَیْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْۢبِهِمْ فَسَوّٰىهَاﭪ(۱۴)
But they called him a liar and hamstrung her. So God obliterated them for their crime, and (destroyed) all of them alike.
91:15
وَ لَا یَخَافُ عُقْبٰهَا۠(۱۵)
He does not fear the consequence.
