Surah an-Naziat

اَلنَّازِعَات
46 Ayaat    مکیۃ


79:0
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
79:1
وَ النّٰزِعٰتِ غَرْقًاۙ(۱)
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag,

By those that pluck out vehemently
79:2
وَّ النّٰشِطٰتِ نَشْطًاۙ(۲)
And those who undo the bonds gently,

and those that draw out violently,
79:3
وَّ السّٰبِحٰتِ سَبْحًاۙ(۳)
And those who glide swimmingly,

by those that swim serenely
79:4
فَالسّٰبِقٰتِ سَبْقًاۙ(۴)
Then outpace the others swiftly

and those that outstrip suddenly
79:5
فَالْمُدَبِّرٰتِ اَمْرًاۘ(۵)
And direct affairs by command,

by those that direct an affair!
79:6
یَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُۙ(۶)
The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively

Upon the day when the first blast shivers
79:7
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُؕ(۷)
Followed by the second blast,

and the second blast follows it,
79:8
قُلُوْبٌ یَّوْمَىٕذٍ وَّاجِفَةٌۙ(۸)
Hearts will pound loudly on that day,

hearts upon that day shall be athrob
79:9
اَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌۘ(۹)
Eyes be lowered in submission.

and their eyes shall be humbled.
79:10
یَقُوْلُوْنَ ءَاِنَّا لَمَرْدُوْدُوْنَ فِی الْحَافِرَةِؕ(۱۰)
They say: "Shall we go back to our original state

They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before?
79:11
ءَاِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةًؕ(۱۱)
After having turned to carious bones?"

What, when we are bones old and wasted?'
79:12
قَالُوْا تِلْكَ اِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌۘ(۱۲)
They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss."

They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!'
79:13
فَاِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجْرَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌۙ(۱۳)
It will only be a single blast,

But it shall be only a single scare,
79:14
فَاِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِؕ(۱۴)
And they will wake up suddenly.

and behold, they are awakened.
79:15
هَلْ اَتٰىكَ حَدِیْثُ مُوْسٰىۘ(۱۵)
Has the story of Moses come to you

Hast thou received the story of Moses?
79:16
اِذْ نَادٰىهُ رَبُّهٗ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًىۚ(۱۶)
When his Lord called to him in Tuwa´s holy vale?

When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa:
79:17
اِذْهَبْ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ اِنَّهٗ طَغٰى٘ۖ(۱۷)
"Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory,

'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent.
79:18
فَقُلْ هَلْ لَّكَ اِلٰۤى اَنْ تَزَكّٰىۙ(۱۸)
And say: ´Would you like to grow (in virtue)?

And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself;
79:19
وَ اَهْدِیَكَ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشٰىۚ(۱۹)
Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.´"

and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"'
79:20
فَاَرٰىهُ الْاٰیَةَ الْكُبْرٰى٘ۖ(۲۰)
So he showed him the greater sign;

So he showed him the great sign,
79:21
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصٰى٘ۖ(۲۱)
But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed.

but he cried lies, and rebelled,
79:22
ثُمَّ اَدْبَرَ یَسْعٰى٘ۖ(۲۲)
Then he turned away, deliberating,

then he turned away hastily,
79:23
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادٰى٘ۖ(۲۳)
And assembled (his council) and proclaimed,

then he mustered
79:24
فَقَالَ اَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْاَعْلٰى٘ۖ(۲۴)
Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all."

and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!'
79:25
فَاَخَذَهُ اللّٰهُ نَكَالَ الْاٰخِرَةِ وَ الْاُوْلٰىؕ(۲۵)
So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world.

So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First.
79:26
اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَنْ یَّخْشٰى(۲۶)ﮒ
Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences).

Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears!
79:27
ءَاَنْتُمْ اَشَدُّ خَلْقًا اَمِ السَّمَآءُؕ-بَنٰىهَاٙ(۲۷)
Are you more difficult to create or the heavens? He built it,

What, are you stronger in constitution or the heaven He built?
79:28
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوّٰىهَاۙ(۲۸)
Raised it high, proportioned it,

He lifted up its vault, and levelled it,
79:29
وَ اَغْطَشَ لَیْلَهَا وَ اَخْرَ جَ ضُحٰىهَا۪(۲۹)
Gave darkness to its night, and brightness to its day;

and darkened its night, and brought forth its forenoon;
79:30
وَ الْاَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ دَحٰىهَاؕ(۳۰)
And afterwards spread out the earth.

and the earth-after that He spread it out,
79:31
اَخْرَ جَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَ مَرْعٰىهَا۪(۳۱)
He brought out its water and its pastures from it,

therefrom brought forth its waters and its pastures,
79:32
وَ الْجِبَالَ اَرْسٰىهَاۙ(۳۲)
And stabilized the mountains

and the mountains He set firm,
79:33
مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَ لِاَنْعَامِكُمْؕ(۳۳)
As convenience for you and your cattle.

an enjoyment for you and your flocks.
79:34
فَاِذَا جَآءَتِ الطَّآمَّةُ الْكُبْرٰى٘ۖ(۳۴)
When the great calamity comes,

Then, when the Great Catastrophe comes
79:35
یَوْمَ یَتَذَكَّرُ الْاِنْسَانُ مَا سَعٰىۙ(۳۵)
The day when man remembers all that he had done,

upon the day when man shall remember what he has striven,
79:36
وَ بُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِیْمُ لِمَنْ یَّرٰى(۳۶)
And Hell made visible to him who can see,

and Hell is advanced for whoever sees,
79:37
فَاَمَّا مَنْ طَغٰىۙ(۳۷)
Then he who had been rebellious

then as for him who was insolent
79:38
وَ اٰثَرَ الْحَیٰوةَ الدُّنْیَاۙ(۳۸)
And who preferred the life of the world,

and preferred the present life,
79:39
فَاِنَّ الْجَحِیْمَ هِیَ الْمَاْوٰىؕ(۳۹)
Will surely have Hell for his abode.

surely Hell shall be the refuge.
79:40
وَ اَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ وَ نَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوٰىۙ(۴۰)
But he who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained his self from vain desires,

But as for him who feared the Station of his Lord and forbade the soul its caprice,
