اَلْمُطَفِّفِيْن

36 Ayaat مکیۃ

83:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

83:1

وَیْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِیْنَۙ(۱)

WOE TO THOSE who give short measure,

83:2

الَّذِیْنَ اِذَا اكْتَالُوْا عَلَى النَّاسِ یَسْتَوْفُوْنَ٘ۖ(۲)

Who insist on being given full when they take from others,

83:3

وَ اِذَا كَالُوْهُمْ اَوْ وَّ زَنُوْهُمْ یُخْسِرُوْنَؕ(۳)

Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less.

83:4

اَلَا یَظُنُّ اُولٰٓىٕكَ اَنَّهُمْ مَّبْعُوْثُوْنَۙ(۴)

Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again

83:5

لِیَوْمٍ عَظِیْمٍۙ(۵)

On a grievous day,

83:6

یَّوْمَ یَقُوْمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَؕ(۶)

The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds?

83:7

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِیْ سِجِّیْنٍؕ(۷)

Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin.

83:8

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا سِجِّیْنٌؕ(۸)

How will you comprehend what Sijjin is?

83:9

كِتٰبٌ مَّرْقُوْمٌؕ(۹)

It is a (repository of) distinctly written record.

83:10

وَیْلٌ یَّوْمَىٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَۙ(۱۰)

Ah the woe that day for those who deny,

83:11

الَّذِیْنَ یُكَذِّبُوْنَ بِیَوْمِ الدِّیْنِؕ(۱۱)

Who call the Day of judgement a lie!

83:12

وَ مَا یُكَذِّبُ بِهٖۤ اِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ اَثِیْمٍۙ(۱۲)

None denies it but the sinful transgressors.

83:13

اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِ اٰیٰتُنَا قَالَ اَسَاطِیْرُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَؕ(۱۳)

When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago."

83:14

كَلَّا بَلْٚ- رَانَ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوْا یَكْسِبُوْنَ(۱۴)

No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts.

83:15

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَّبِّهِمْ یَوْمَىٕذٍ لَّمَحْجُوْبُوْنَؕ(۱۵)

Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day,

83:16

ثُمَّ اِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحِیْمِؕ(۱۶)

Then they will indeed burn in Hell.

83:17

ثُمَّ یُقَالُ هٰذَا الَّذِیْ كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوْنَؕ(۱۷)

They will then be told: "This is what you had denied."

83:18

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الْاَبْرَارِ لَفِیْ عِلِّیِّیْنَؕ(۱۸)

Surely the ledger of the pious will be in ´Illiyun (heights above the heights).

83:19

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا عِلِّیُّوْنَؕ(۱۹)

But how will you comprehend what ´Illiyun is?

83:20

كِتٰبٌ مَّرْقُوْمٌۙ(۲۰)

It is a (repository of) distinctly written record

83:21

یَّشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَؕ(۲۱)

Witnessed by those who are honoured.

83:22

اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ لَفِیْ نَعِیْمٍۙ(۲۲)

Verily the pious will be in heaven,

83:23

عَلَى الْاَرَآىٕكِ یَنْظُرُوْنَۙ(۲۳)

On couches face to face.

83:24

تَعْرِفُ فِیْ وُجُوْهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِیْمِۚ(۲۴)

On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude.

83:25

یُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَّحِیْقٍ مَّخْتُوْمٍۙ(۲۵)

They will be served the choicest wine, sealed

83:26

خِتٰمُهٗ مِسْكٌؕ-وَ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ فَلْیَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُوْنَؕ(۲۶)

With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, --

83:27

وَ مِزَاجُهٗ مِنْ تَسْنِیْمٍۙ(۲۷)

Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution),

83:28

عَیْنًا یَّشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَؕ(۲۸)

A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink.

83:29

اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ اَجْرَمُوْا كَانُوْا مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا یَضْحَكُوْنَ٘ۖ(۲۹)

The sinners indeed laughed at believers

83:30

وَ اِذَا مَرُّوْا بِهِمْ یَتَغَامَزُوْنَ٘ۖ(۳۰)

And winked at one another as they passed by them;

83:31

وَ اِذَا انْقَلَبُوْۤا اِلٰۤى اَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوْا فَـكِهِیْنَ٘ۖ(۳۱)

And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them;

83:32

وَ اِذَا رَاَوْهُمْ قَالُوْۤا اِنَّ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّوْنَۙ(۳۲)

And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray."

83:33

وَ مَاۤ اُرْسِلُوْا عَلَیْهِمْ حٰفِظِیْنَؕ(۳۳)

But they were not Sent to be guardians over them!

83:34

فَالْیَوْمَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ یَضْحَكُوْنَۙ(۳۴)

So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day,

83:35

عَلَى الْاَرَآىٕكِۙ-یَنْظُرُوْنَؕ(۳۵)

Regarding them from their cushioned seats.

83:36

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوْا یَفْعَلُوْنَ۠(۳۶)

Will not the infidels pay for what they had done?
