اَلْمَعَارِ ج

44 Ayaat مکیۃ

70:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

70:1

سَاَلَ سَآىٕلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَّاقِعٍۙ(۱)

AN INQUIRER ASKED for the affliction that is to come

70:2

لِّلْكٰفِرِیْنَ لَیْسَ لَهٗ دَافِعٌۙ(۲)

Upon the infidels -- which none would be able to repel --

70:3

مِّنَ اللّٰهِ ذِی الْمَعَارِجِؕ(۳)

From God, the Lord of the steps (of progression),

70:4

تَعْرُجُ الْمَلٰٓىٕكَةُ وَ الرُّوْحُ اِلَیْهِ فِیْ یَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهٗ خَمْسِیْنَ اَلْفَ سَنَةٍۚ(۴)

To whom the angels and the soul take a day to ascend, whose length is fifty thousand years.

70:5

فَاصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِیْلًا(۵)

So persevere with becoming patience.

70:6

اِنَّهُمْ یَرَوْنَهٗ بَعِیْدًاۙ(۶)

They surely take it to be far away,

70:7

وَّ نَرٰىهُ قَرِیْبًاؕ(۷)

But We see it very near.

70:8

یَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ السَّمَآءُ كَالْمُهْلِۙ(۸)

The day the sky becomes like molten brass,

70:9

وَ تَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِۙ(۹)

The mountains like the tufts of (carded) wool,

70:10

وَ لَا یَسْــٴَـلُ حَمِیْمٌ حَمِیْمًاۚۖ(۱۰)

And no friend inquires after friend

70:11

یُّبَصَّرُوْنَهُمْؕ-یَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ یَفْتَدِیْ مِنْ عَذَابِ یَوْمِىٕذٍۭ بِبَنِیْهِۙ(۱۱)

Though within sight of one another. The sinner would like to ransom himself from the torment of that Day by offering his sons,

70:12

وَ صَاحِبَتِهٖ وَ اَخِیْهِۙ(۱۲)

His wife and his brother,

70:13

وَ فَصِیْلَتِهِ الَّتِیْ تُــٴْـوِ یْهِۙ(۱۳)

And his family who had stood by him,

70:14

وَ مَنْ فِی الْاَرْضِ جَمِیْعًاۙ-ثُمَّ یُنْجِیْهِۙ(۱۴)

And all those who are on the earth, to save himself.

70:15

كَلَّاؕ-اِنَّهَا لَظٰىۙ(۱۵)

But never. It is pure white flame

70:16

نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوٰىۚۖ (۱۶)

That would skin the scalp.

70:17

تَدْعُوْا مَنْ اَدْبَرَ وَ تَوَلّٰىۙ(۱۷)

It will summon whoever turns his back and flees,

70:18

وَ جَمَعَ فَاَوْعٰى(۱۸)

Who amasses and then hoards.

70:19

اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوْعًاۙ(۱۹)

Surely man is greedy by nature.

70:20

اِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوْعًاۙ(۲۰)

If evil befalls him he is perturbed;

70:21

وَّ اِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَیْرُ مَنُوْعًاۙ(۲۱)

If good comes to him he holds back his hand,

70:22

اِلَّا الْمُصَلِّیْنَۙ(۲۲)

Except those who closely follow (the Book of God),

70:23

الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآىٕمُوْنَﭪ(۲۳)

Who persevere in devotion,

70:24

وَ الَّذِیْنَ فِیْۤ اَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُوْمٌﭪ(۲۴)

In whose wealth a due share is included

70:25

لِّلسَّآىٕلِ وَ الْمَحْرُوْمِﭪ(۲۵)

For the needy and those dispossessed,

70:26

وَ الَّذِیْنَ یُصَدِّقُوْنَ بِیَوْمِ الدِّیْنِﭪ(۲۶)

And those who believe in the Day of Judgement,

70:27

وَ الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُّشْفِقُوْنَۚ(۲۷)

And those who fear the punishment of their Lord, --

70:28

اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَیْرُ مَاْمُوْنٍ(۲۸)

Surely no one can be secure from the punishment of his Lord, --

70:29

وَ الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ لِفُرُوْجِهِمْ حٰفِظُوْنَۙ(۲۹)

And those who guard their sex except from their wives and women slaves of old

70:30

اِلَّا عَلٰۤى اَزْوَاجِهِمْ اَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ اَیْمَانُهُمْ فَاِنَّهُمْ غَیْرُ مَلُوْمِیْنَۚ(۳۰)

Are free of blame,

70:31

فَمَنِ ابْتَغٰى وَرَآءَ ذٰلِكَ فَاُولٰٓىٕكَ هُمُ الْعٰدُوْنَۚ(۳۱)

But those who seek more than this will be transgressors;

70:32

وَ الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ لِاَمٰنٰتِهِمْ وَ عَهْدِهِمْ رٰعُوْنَﭪ(۳۲)

And those who fulfil their trusts and covenants,

70:33

وَ الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ بِشَهٰدٰتِهِمْ قَآىٕمُوْنَﭪ(۳۳)

Who uphold their testimonies,

70:34

وَ الَّذِیْنَ هُمْ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمْ یُحَافِظُوْنَؕ(۳۴)

And those who are mindful of their moral obligations.

70:35

اُولٰٓىٕكَ فِیْ جَنّٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُوْنَ(۳۵)ﮒ

They will live in gardens with honour.

70:36

فَمَالِ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِیْنَۙ(۳۶)

What is the matter with unbelievers that they stare at you with fixed gazes and hasten towards you

70:37

عَنِ الْیَمِیْنِ وَ عَنِ الشِّمَالِ عِزِیْنَ(۳۷)

In crowds, right and left?

70:38

اَیَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ اَنْ یُّدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِیْمٍۙ(۳۸)

Does every one of them wish to enter the garden of tranquility?

70:39

كَلَّاؕ-اِنَّا خَلَقْنٰهُمْ مِّمَّا یَعْلَمُوْنَ(۳۹)

Never so. We have created them from what they know.

70:40

فَلَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشٰرِقِ وَ الْمَغٰرِبِ اِنَّا لَقٰدِرُوْنَۙ(۴۰)

So I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests that We are certainly able
