اَلْهُمَزَة

104:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

104:1

وَیْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةِ ﹰۙ (۱)

WOE TO EVERY slanderer, back-biter,

Woe unto every backbiter, slanderer,

104:2

الَّذِیْ جَمَعَ مَالًا وَّ عَدَّدَهٗۙ(۲)

Who amasses wealth and hordes it.

who has gathered riches and counted them over

104:3

یَحْسَبُ اَنَّ مَالَهٗۤ اَخْلَدَهٗۚ(۳)

Does he think his wealth will abide for ever with him?

thinking his riches have made him immortal!

104:4

كَلَّا لَیُنْۢبَذَنَّ فِی الْحُطَمَةِ٘ۖ(۴)

By no means. He will be thrown into Hutama.

No indeed; he shall be thrust into the Crusher;

104:5

وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُؕ(۵)

How will you comprehend what Hutama is?

and what shall teach thee what is the Crusher;

104:6

نَارُ اللّٰهِ الْمُوْقَدَةُۙ(۶)

It is the fire kindled by God

The Fire of God kindled

104:7

الَّتِیْ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْاَفْـٕدَةِؕ(۷)

Which penetrates the hearts

roaring over the hearts

104:8

اِنَّهَا عَلَیْهِمْ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۙ(۸)

(And) vaults them over

covered down upon them,

104:9

فِیْ عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ۠(۹)

In extending columns.

in columns outstretched.
