اَلْحَآ قَّة
52 Ayaat    مکیۃ


69:0
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
69:1
اَلْحَآقَّةُۙ(۱)
THE CONCRETE REALITY.

The Indubitable!
69:2
مَا الْحَآقَّةُۚ(۲)
What is the concrete reality?

What is the Indubitable?
69:3
وَ مَاۤ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْحَآقَّةُؕ(۳)
What do you comprehend by the concrete reality?

And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable?
69:4
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُوْدُ وَ عَادٌۢ بِالْقَارِعَةِ(۴)
The Thamud and ´Ad denied the consequential calamity.

Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer.
69:5
فَاَمَّا ثَمُوْدُ فَاُهْلِكُوْا بِالطَّاغِیَةِ(۵)
So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning;

As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer;
69:6
وَ اَمَّا عَادٌ فَاُهْلِكُوْا بِرِیْحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِیَةٍۙ(۶)
And the ´Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind

and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous,
69:7
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَیْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَیَالٍ وَّ ثَمٰنِیَةَ اَیَّامٍۙ-حُسُوْمًاۙ-فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِیْهَا صَرْعٰىۙ-كَاَنَّهُمْ اَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِیَةٍۚ(۷)
Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees.

violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees.
69:8
فَهَلْ تَرٰى لَهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَاقِیَةٍ(۸)
Do you see any trace of them?

Now dost thou see any remnant of them?
69:9
وَ جَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَ مَنْ قَبْلَهٗ وَ الْمُؤْتَفِكٰتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِۚ(۹)
Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes.

Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error,
69:10
فَعَصَوْا رَسُوْلَ رَبِّهِمْ فَاَخَذَهُمْ اَخْذَةً رَّابِیَةً(۱۰)
When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment.

and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip.
69:11
اِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا الْمَآءُ حَمَلْنٰكُمْ فِی الْجَارِیَةِۙ(۱۱)
When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark,

Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship
69:12
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَّ تَعِیَهَاۤ اُذُنٌ وَّاعِیَةٌ(۱۲)
In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it.

that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold.
69:13
فَاِذَا نُفِخَ فِی الصُّوْرِ نَفْخَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌۙ(۱۳)
When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet,

So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast
69:14
وَّ حُمِلَتِ الْاَرْضُ وَ الْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَّاحِدَةًۙ(۱۴)
And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow,

and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow,
69:15
فَیَوْمَىٕذٍ وَّقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُۙ(۱۵)
On that Day will come what is to come.

then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass,
69:16
وَ انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَآءُ فَهِیَ یَوْمَىٕذٍ وَّاهِیَةٌۙ(۱۶)
The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces.

and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail,
69:17
وَّ الْمَلَكُ عَلٰۤى اَرْجَآىٕهَاؕ-وَ یَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ یَوْمَىٕذٍ ثَمٰنِیَةٌؕ(۱۷)
On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord´s throne aloft.

and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord.
69:18
یَوْمَىٕذٍ تُعْرَضُوْنَ لَا تَخْفٰى مِنْكُمْ خَافِیَةٌ(۱۸)
You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed.

On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed.
69:19
فَاَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِیَمِیْنِهٖۙ-فَیَقُوْلُ هَآؤُمُ اقْرَءُوْا كِتٰبِیَهْۚ(۱۹)
He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger.

Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book!
69:20
اِنِّیْ ظَنَنْتُ اَنِّیْ مُلٰقٍ حِسَابِیَهْۚ(۲۰)
I was certain I´ll be given my account."

Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.'
69:21
فَهُوَ فِیْ عِیْشَةٍ رَّاضِیَةٍۙ(۲۱)
So he shall have an agreeable life

So he shall be in a pleasing life
69:22
فِیْ جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةٍۙ(۲۲)
In high empyrean

in a lofty Garden,
69:23
قُطُوْفُهَا دَانِیَةٌ(۲۳)
With fruits hanging low within reach,

its clusters nigh to gather.
69:24
كُلُوْا وَ اشْرَبُوْا هَنِیْٓــٴًـۢا بِمَاۤ اَسْلَفْتُمْ فِی الْاَیَّامِ الْخَالِیَةِ(۲۴)
(And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore."

'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.'
69:25
وَ اَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِشِمَالِهٖ ﳔ فَیَقُوْلُ یٰلَیْتَنِیْ لَمْ اُوْتَ كِتٰبِیَهْۚ(۲۵)
But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger,

But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book
69:26
وَ لَمْ اَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِیَهْۚ(۲۶)
And not known my account!

and not known my reckoning!
69:27
یٰلَیْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِیَةَۚ(۲۷)
I wish death had put an end to me.

Would it had been the end!
69:28
مَاۤ اَغْنٰى عَنِّیْ مَالِیَهْۚ(۲۸)
Of no use was even my wealth.

My wealth has not availed me,
69:29
هَلَكَ عَنِّیْ سُلْطٰنِیَهْۚ(۲۹)
Vanished has my power from me."

my authority is gone from me.'
69:30
خُذُوْهُ فَغُلُّوْهُۙ(۳۰)
"Seize him and manacle him,

'Take him, and fetter him,
69:31
ثُمَّ الْجَحِیْمَ صَلُّوْهُۙ(۳۱)
Then cast him to be burnt in Hell;

and then roast him in Hell,
69:32
ثُمَّ فِیْ سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُوْنَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُكُوْهُؕ(۳۲)
And string him to a chain seventy cubits long.

then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him!
69:33
اِنَّهٗ كَانَ لَا یُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ الْعَظِیْمِۙ(۳۳)
He did not believe in God the supreme,

Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty,
69:34
وَ لَا یَحُضُّ عَلٰى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِیْنِؕ(۳۴)
Nor urged others to feed the poor.

and he never urged the feeding of the needy;
69:35
فَلَیْسَ لَهُ الْیَوْمَ هٰهُنَا حَمِیْمٌۙ(۳۵)
That is why he has no friend today,

therefore he today has not here one loyal friend,
69:36
وَّ لَا طَعَامٌ اِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِیْنٍۙ(۳۶)
Nor food other than suppuration (filth)

neither any food saving foul pus,
69:37
لَّا یَاْكُلُهٗۤ اِلَّا الْخَاطِـــٴُـوْنَ۠(۳۷)
Which none but the hellish eat."

that none excepting the sinners eat.'
69:38
فَلَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُوْنَۙ(۳۸)
So, I call to witness what you see

No! I swear by that you see
69:39
وَ مَا لَا تُبْصِرُوْنَۙ(۳۹)
And what you do not see,

and by that you do not see,
69:40
اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلُ رَسُوْلٍ كَرِیْمٍۚۙ(۴۰)
That this is indeed the word of the noble Messenger,

it is the speech of a noble Messenger.
