Surah Al-Furqan Recitation, Translation, and Tafseer - The Holy Quran

25:41

وَ اِذَا رَاَوْكَ اِنْ یَّتَّخِذُوْنَكَ اِلَّا هُزُوًاؕ-اَهٰذَا الَّذِیْ بَعَثَ اللّٰهُ رَسُوْلًا(۴۱)

When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger?

And when they see thee, they take thee in mockery only: 'What, is this he whom God sent forth as a Messenger?

25:42

اِنْ كَادَ لَیُضِلُّنَا عَنْ اٰلِهَتِنَا لَوْ لَاۤ اَنْ صَبَرْنَا عَلَیْهَاؕ-وَ سَوْفَ یَعْلَمُوْنَ حِیْنَ یَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ اَضَلُّ سَبِیْلًا(۴۲)

He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment!

Wellnigh he had led us astray from our gods, but that we kept steadfast to them.' Assuredly they shall know, when they see the chastisement, who is further astray from the way.

25:43

اَرَءَیْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰهَهٗ هَوٰىهُؕ-اَفَاَنْتَ تَكُوْنُ عَلَیْهِ وَكِیْلًاۙ(۴۳)

Have you considered him who takes his own lust for his god? Can you stand a surety for him?

Hast thou seen him who has taken his caprice to be his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over them?

25:44

اَمْ تَحْسَبُ اَنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ یَسْمَعُوْنَ اَوْ یَعْقِلُوْنَؕ-اِنْ هُمْ اِلَّا كَالْاَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ اَضَلُّ سَبِیْلًا۠(۴۴)

Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are no better than cattle; in fact they are farther astray from the path.

Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle; nay, they are further astray from the way.

25:45

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ كَیْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّۚ-وَ لَوْ شَآءَ لَجَعَلَهٗ سَاكِنًاۚ-ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَیْهِ دَلِیْلًاۙ(۴۵)

Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens out the shadow? He could have kept it motionless if He liked. Yet We make the sun its pilot to show the way.

Hast thou not regarded thy Lord, how He has stretched out the shadow? Had He willed, He would have made it still. Then We appointed the sun, to be a guide to it;

25:46

ثُمَّ قَبَضْنٰهُ اِلَیْنَا قَبْضًا یَّسِیْرًا(۴۶)

Then We draw it back to Us, withdrawing it little by little.

thereafter We seize it to Ourselves, drawing it gently.

25:47

وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الَّیْلَ لِبَاسًا وَّ النَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَّ جَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُوْرًا(۴۷)

It is He who made the night a covering for you; and made sleep for rest, the day for rising.

It is He who appointed the night for you to be a garment and sleep for a rest, and day He appointed for a rising.

25:48

وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْۤ اَرْسَلَ الرِّیٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَیْنَ یَدَیْ رَحْمَتِهٖۚ-وَ اَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً طَهُوْرًاۙ(۴۸)

It is He who sends the winds with auspicious news in advance of His benevolence; and We send pure water down from the sky

And it is He who has loosed the winds, bearing good tidings before His mercy; and We sent down from heaven pure water

25:49

لِّنُحْیِﰯ بِهٖ بَلْدَةً مَّیْتًا وَّ نُسْقِیَهٗ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَاۤ اَنْعَامًا وَّ اَنَاسِیَّ كَثِیْرًا(۴۹)

To quicken a region that was dead, and to give it as drink to animals We have created and to men in plenty.

so that We might revive a dead land, and give to drink of it, of that We created, cattle and men a many.

25:50

وَ لَقَدْ صَرَّفْنٰهُ بَیْنَهُمْ لِیَذَّكَّرُوْا ﳲ فَاَبٰۤى اَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ اِلَّا كُفُوْرًا(۵۰)

And We distribute it among them in various ways that they may ponder and reflect; yet most men disdain everything but denial and thanklessness.

We have indeed turned it about amongst them, so that they may remember; yet most men refuse all but unbelief.

25:51

وَ لَوْ شِئْنَا لَبَعَثْنَا فِیْ كُلِّ قَرْیَةٍ نَّذِیْرًا٘ۖ(۵۱)

Had We pleased We could have raised a warner in every town.

If We had willed, We would have raised up in every city a warner.

25:52

فَلَا تُطِعِ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ وَ جَاهِدْهُمْ بِهٖ جِهَادًا كَبِیْرًا(۵۲)

So do not listen to unbelievers, and strive against them with greater effort.

So obey not the unbelievers, but struggle with them thereby mightily.

25:53

وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْ مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَیْنِ هٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ وَّ هٰذَا مِلْحٌ اُجَاجٌۚ-وَ جَعَلَ بَیْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخًا وَّ حِجْرًا مَّحْجُوْرًا(۵۳)

It is He who made two bodies of water flow side by side, one fresh (and) sweet, the other brine (and) bitter, and has placed an interstice, a barrier between them.

And it is He who let forth the two seas, this one Sweet, grateful to taste, and this salt, bitter to the tongue, and He set between them a barrier, and a ban forbidden.

25:54

وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَآءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهٗ نَسَبًا وَّ صِهْرًاؕ-وَ كَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِیْرًا(۵۴)

It is He who created man from water, then gave him consanguinity and affinity. Your Lord is omnipotent.

And it is He who created of water a mortal, and made him kindred of blood and marriage; thy Lord is All-powerful.

25:55

وَ یَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا یَنْفَعُهُمْ وَ لَا یَضُرُّهُمْؕ-وَ كَانَ الْكَافِرُ عَلٰى رَبِّهٖ ظَهِیْرًا(۵۵)

And yet they worship besides God what cannot bring them gain or do them harm. The unbeliever has always been an auxiliary against his Lord.

And they serve, apart from God, what neither profits them nor hurts them; and the unbeliever is ever a partisan against his Lord.

25:56

وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ اِلَّا مُبَشِّرًا وَّ نَذِیْرًا(۵۶)

Yet We have not sent you but to give good tidings and to warn.

We have sent thee not, except good tidings to bear, and warning.

25:57

قُلْ مَاۤ اَسْــٴَـلُكُمْ عَلَیْهِ مِنْ اَجْرٍ اِلَّا مَنْ شَآءَ اَنْ یَّتَّخِذَ اِلٰى رَبِّهٖ سَبِیْلًا(۵۷)

Tell them: "I do not ask any recompense of you for this other than (urging) whoever likes may take the way to his Lord."

Say: 'I do not ask of you a wage for this, except for him who wishes to take to his Lord a way.'

25:58

وَ تَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَیِّ الَّذِیْ لَا یَمُوْتُ وَ سَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِهٖؕ-وَ كَفٰى بِهٖ بِذُنُوْبِ عِبَادِهٖ خَبِیْرَاﰳ (۵۸)ﮊ

Have trust in God the Living, who will never die, and sing His hallelujas; for He is well aware of the sins of His creatures.

Put thy trust in the Living God, the Undying, and proclaim His praise. Sufficiently is He aware of His servants sins

25:59

الَّذِیْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا فِیْ سِتَّةِ اَیَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوٰى عَلَى الْعَرْشِۚۛ-اَلرَّحْمٰنُ فَسْــٴَـلْ بِهٖ خَبِیْرًا(۵۹)

He created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them in six spans then assumed His authority. He is the benevolent: Ask those who are well-informed.

who created the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, in six days, then sat Himself upon the Throne, the All-compassionate: ask any informed of Him!

25:60

وَ اِذَا قِیْلَ لَهُمُ اسْجُدُوْا لِلرَّحْمٰنِ قَالُوْا وَ مَا الرَّحْمٰنُۗ-اَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَاْمُرُنَا وَ زَادَهُمْ نُفُوْرًا۠۩(۶۰)

When you say to them: "Bow before Ar-Rahman," they say: "What is Ar-Rahman? Should we adore whoever you ask us to?" And their aversion increases further.

But when they are told, 'Bow yourselves to the All-merciful,' they say, 'And what is the All-merciful? Shall we bow ourselves to what thou biddest us?' And it increases them in aversion.

25:61

تَبٰرَكَ الَّذِیْ جَعَلَ فِی السَّمَآءِ بُرُوْجًا وَّ جَعَلَ فِیْهَا سِرٰجًا وَّ قَمَرًا مُّنِیْرًا(۶۱)

Blessed is He who placed in the heavens constellations of stars, and placed a burning lamp in it and the luminous moon.

Blessed be He who has set in heaven constellations, and has set among them a lamp, and an illuminating moon.

25:62

وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْ جَعَلَ الَّیْلَ وَ النَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِّمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ یَّذَّكَّرَ اَوْ اَرَادَ شُكُوْرًا(۶۲)

It is He who made the night and day an alternation for him who cares to reflect and be grateful.

And it is He who made the night and day a succession for whom He desires to remember or He desires to be thankful.

25:63

وَ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمٰنِ الَّذِیْنَ یَمْشُوْنَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَّ اِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجٰهِلُوْنَ قَالُوْا سَلٰمًا(۶۳)

Devotees of Ar-Rahman are those who walk with humility on the earth, and when they are addressed by the ignorant, say: ´Peace;"

The servants of the All-merciful are those who walk in the earth modestly and who, when the ignorant address them, say, 'Peace';

25:64

وَ الَّذِیْنَ یَبِیْتُوْنَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَّ قِیَامًا(۶۴)

And those who spend their nights bowed and standing before their Lord;

who pass the night prostrate to their Lord and standing;

25:65

وَ الَّذِیْنَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ﳓ اِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًاۗۖ(۶۵)

Who say: "O our Lord, avert from us the torment of Hell: Its punishment is surely continuous.

who say, 'Our Lord, turn Thou from us the chastisement of Gehenna; surely its chastisement is torment most terrible;

25:66

اِنَّهَا سَآءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَّ مُقَامًا(۶۶)

It is indeed an evil halt and an evil abode;"

evil it is as a lodging-place and an abode';

25:67

وَ الَّذِیْنَ اِذَاۤ اَنْفَقُوْا لَمْ یُسْرِفُوْا وَ لَمْ یَقْتُرُوْا وَ كَانَ بَیْنَ ذٰلِكَ قَوَامًا(۶۷)

Who are neither prodigal nor miserly in their spending but follow a middle path;

who, when they expend, are neither prodigal nor parsimonious, but between that is a just stand;

25:68

وَ الَّذِیْنَ لَا یَدْعُوْنَ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهًا اٰخَرَ وَ لَا یَقْتُلُوْنَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِیْ حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَ لَا یَزْنُوْنَۚ-وَ مَنْ یَّفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ یَلْقَ اَثَامًاۙ(۶۸)

Who do not invoke any god apart from God, who do not take a life which God has forbidden except for a cause that is just, and do not fornicate -- and any one who does so will be punished for the crime,

who call not upon another god with God, nor slay the soul God has forbidden except by right, neither fornicate, for whosoever does that shall meet the price

25:69

یُّضٰعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ یَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَةِ وَ یَخْلُدْ فِیْهٖ مُهَانًاۗۖ(۶۹)

Whose punishment will be doubled on the Day of Judgement, and he will live for ever in disgrace,

of sin-doubled shall be the chastisement for him on the Resurrection Day, and he shall dwell therein humbled,

25:70

اِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَ اٰمَنَ وَ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَاُولٰٓىٕكَ یُبَدِّلُ اللّٰهُ سَیِّاٰتِهِمْ حَسَنٰتٍؕ-وَ كَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِیْمًا(۷۰)

Except those who repent and come to believe and do the right, for whom God will turn evil into goodness, for God is forgiving and kind.

save him who repents, and believes, and does righteous work -- those, God will change their evil deeds into good deeds, for God is ever All-forgiving, All-compassionate;

25:71

وَ مَنْ تَابَ وَ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَاِنَّهٗ یَتُوْبُ اِلَى اللّٰهِ مَتَابًا(۷۱)

Whosoever repents and does the right, will have turned back to God by way of repentance;

and whosoever repents, and does righteousness, he truly turns to God in repentance.

25:72

وَ الَّذِیْنَ لَا یَشْهَدُوْنَ الزُّوْرَۙ-وَ اِذَا مَرُّوْا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوْا كِرَامًا(۷۲)

And those who do not give false evidence, and if they come across unbecoming talk ignore it and pass by in a sedate way;

And those who bear not false witness and, when they pass by idle talk, pass by with dignity;

25:73

وَ الَّذِیْنَ اِذَا ذُكِّرُوْا بِاٰیٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ یَخِرُّوْا عَلَیْهَا صُمًّا وَّ عُمْیَانًا(۷۳)

Who, when reminded of their Lord´s revelations, do not fall for them like the deaf and blind;

who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, fall not down thereat deaf and blind;

25:74

وَ الَّذِیْنَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ اَزْوَاجِنَا وَ ذُرِّیّٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ اَعْیُنٍ وَّ اجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِیْنَ اِمَامًا(۷۴)

And those who say: "O Lord, give us comfort in our spouses and children, and make us paragons of those who follow the straight path."

who say, 'Our Lord, give us refreshment of our wives and seed, and make us a model to the godfearing.'

25:75

اُولٰٓىٕكَ یُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَةَ بِمَا صَبَرُوْا وَ یُلَقَّوْنَ فِیْهَا تَحِیَّةً وَّ سَلٰمًاۙ(۷۵)

They will be rewarded for their perseverance with lofty mansions in empyrean where they will be received with greetings of peace and salutations,

Those shall be recompensed with the highest heaven, for that they endured patiently, and they shall receive therein a greeting and --' Peace!'

25:76

خٰلِدِیْنَ فِیْهَاؕ-حَسُنَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَّ مُقَامًا(۷۶)

And abide there for ever: What an excellent destination and abode!

Therein they shall dwell forever; fair it is as a lodging-place and an abode.

25:77

قُلْ مَا یَعْبَؤُا بِكُمْ رَبِّیْ لَوْ لَا دُعَآؤُكُمْۚ-فَقَدْ كَذَّبْتُمْ فَسَوْفَ یَكُوْنُ لِزَامًا۠(۷۷)

Say: "My Lord is not concerned on your account if you do not pray to Him. You have surely done with denying; soon will come the inevitable judgement.

Say: 'My Lord esteems you not at all were it not for your prayer, for you have cried lies, and it shall surely be fastened.'
