Surah Al-Anbiyaa

اَلْاَ نْبِيَآء
112 Ayaat    مکیۃ


21:0
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
21:1
اِقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَ هُمْ فِیْ غَفْلَةٍ مُّعْرِضُوْنَۚ(۱)
NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness.
21:2
مَا یَاْتِیْهِمْ مِّنْ ذِكْرٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ مُّحْدَثٍ اِلَّا اسْتَمَعُوْهُ وَ هُمْ یَلْعَبُوْنَۙ(۲)
Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance.
21:3
لَاهِیَةً قُلُوْبُهُمْؕ-وَ اَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَى ﳓ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا ﳓ هَلْ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْۚ-اَفَتَاْتُوْنَ السِّحْرَ وَ اَنْتُمْ تُبْصِرُوْنَ(۳)
Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?"
21:4
قٰلَ رَبِّیْ یَعْلَمُ الْقَوْلَ فِی السَّمَآءِ وَ الْاَرْضِ٘-وَ هُوَ السَّمِیْعُ الْعَلِیْمُ(۴)
He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything."
21:5
بَلْ قَالُوْۤا اَضْغَاثُ اَحْلَامٍۭ بَلِ افْتَرٰىهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ ۚۖ-فَلْیَاْتِنَا بِاٰیَةٍ كَمَاۤ اُرْسِلَ الْاَوَّلُوْنَ(۵)
Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with."
21:6
مَاۤ اٰمَنَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ مِّنْ قَرْیَةٍ اَهْلَكْنٰهَاۚ-اَفَهُمْ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ(۶)
Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe?
21:7
وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ اِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوْحِیْۤ اِلَیْهِمْ فَسْــٴَـلُوْۤا اَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ(۷)
Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God.
21:8
وَ مَا جَعَلْنٰهُمْ جَسَدًا لَّا یَاْكُلُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ وَ مَا كَانُوْا خٰلِدِیْنَ(۸)
We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal.
21:9
ثُمَّ صَدَقْنٰهُمُ الْوَعْدَ فَاَنْجَیْنٰهُمْ وَ مَنْ نَّشَآءُ وَ اَهْلَكْنَا الْمُسْرِفِیْنَ(۹)
Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors.
21:10
لَقَدْ اَنْزَلْنَاۤ اِلَیْكُمْ كِتٰبًا فِیْهِ ذِكْرُكُمْؕ-اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ۠(۱۰)
We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand?
21:11
وَ كَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِنْ قَرْیَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً وَّ اَنْشَاْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا اٰخَرِیْنَ(۱۱)
How many habitations that were sinful have We demolished utterly, and raised other people after them.
21:12
فَلَمَّاۤ اَحَسُّوْا بَاْسَنَاۤ اِذَا هُمْ مِّنْهَا یَرْكُضُوْنَؕ(۱۲)
Whensoever they sensed Our punishment they fled from them.
21:13
لَا تَرْكُضُوْا وَ ارْجِعُوْۤا اِلٰى مَاۤ اُتْرِفْتُمْ فِیْهِ وَ مَسٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْــٴَـلُوْنَ(۱۳)
"Do not flee; go back to your halls of pleasure and your habitations, so that you may be interrogated."
21:14
قَالُوْا یٰوَیْلَنَاۤ اِنَّا كُنَّا ظٰلِمِیْنَ(۱۴)
"Woe, alas," they said, "we were really sinful."
21:15
فَمَا زَالَتْ تِّلْكَ دَعْوٰىهُمْ حَتّٰى جَعَلْنٰهُمْ حَصِیْدًا خٰمِدِیْنَ(۱۵)
And this remained their lament till We mowed them down and made them extinct.
21:16
وَ مَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَآءَ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا لٰعِبِیْنَ(۱۶)
We have not created the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between them, out of fun.
21:17
لَوْ اَرَدْنَاۤ اَنْ نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا لَّاتَّخَذْنٰهُ مِنْ لَّدُنَّاۤ ﳓ اِنْ كُنَّا فٰعِلِیْنَ(۱۷)
If We had pleased to make a plaything We could have made it Ourself, if We had cared to do so.
21:18
بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِالْحَقِّ عَلَى الْبَاطِلِ فَیَدْمَغُهٗ فَاِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌؕ-وَ لَكُمُ الْوَیْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُوْنَ(۱۸)
In fact We strike the truth against the false, which shatters it, and it disappears. Woe to you for what you attribute (to Him)!
21:19
وَ لَهٗ مَنْ فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِؕ-وَ مَنْ عِنْدَهٗ لَا یَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهٖ وَ لَا یَسْتَحْسِرُوْنَۚ(۱۹)
Whosoever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him; and those who are near Him do not disdain to worship Him or weary (of His service),
21:20
یُسَبِّحُوْنَ الَّیْلَ وَ النَّهَارَ لَا یَفْتُرُوْنَ(۲۰)
Nor cease to endeavour praising Him night and day.
21:21
اَمِ اتَّخَذُوْۤا اٰلِهَةً مِّنَ الْاَرْضِ هُمْ یُنْشِرُوْنَ(۲۱)
Or have they taken gods from the earth who can raise the dead?
21:22
لَوْ كَانَ فِیْهِمَاۤ اٰلِهَةٌ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ لَفَسَدَتَاۚ-فَسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ عَمَّا یَصِفُوْنَ(۲۲)
Had there been gods apart from God, both (the heavens and the earth) would have been despoiled. Much too glorious is God, the Lord of the mighty throne, for things they assert!
21:23
لَا یُسْــٴَـلُ عَمَّا یَفْعَلُ وَ هُمْ یُسْــٴَـلُوْنَ(۲۳)
He cannot be questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.
21:24
اَمِ اتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِهٖۤ اٰلِهَةًؕ-قُلْ هَاتُوْا بُرْهَانَكُمْۚ-هٰذَا ذِكْرُ مَنْ مَّعِیَ وَ ذِكْرُ مَنْ قَبْلِیْؕ-بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَۙ-الْحَقَّ فَهُمْ مُّعْرِضُوْنَ(۲۴)
Have they taken gods besides God? Say: "Then bring your proof. Here is the Book of those who are with me, and the Book of those who have gone before me." But most men do not know the truth and turn away.
21:25
وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا نُوْحِیْۤ اِلَیْهِ اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاعْبُدُوْنِ(۲۵)
We have not sent an apostle before you without instructing him that there is no god but I, so worship Me.
21:26
وَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَلَدًا سُبْحٰنَهٗؕ-بَلْ عِبَادٌ مُّكْرَمُوْنَۙ(۲۶)
And yet they say: "Ar-Rahman has begotten a son." Too exalted is He! In fact, those (they call His sons) were His honoured votaries.
21:27
لَا یَسْبِقُوْنَهٗ بِالْقَوْلِ وَ هُمْ بِاَمْرِهٖ یَعْمَلُوْنَ(۲۷)
They did not precede Him in their speech, and acted on His command.
21:28
یَعْلَمُ مَا بَیْنَ اَیْدِیْهِمْ وَ مَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَ لَا یَشْفَعُوْنَۙ-اِلَّا لِمَنِ ارْتَضٰى وَ هُمْ مِّنْ خَشْیَتِهٖ مُشْفِقُوْنَ(۲۸)
He knows what was there before them and what came after them; and they did not intercede for any one but whom He willed, and they were filled with awe of Him.
21:29
وَ مَنْ یَّقُلْ مِنْهُمْ اِنِّیْۤ اِلٰهٌ مِّنْ دُوْنِهٖ فَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِیْهِ جَهَنَّمَؕ-كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِی الظّٰلِمِیْنَ۠(۲۹)
If any one of them said: "I am God besides Him," We should award him Hell; for this is how We requite the evil-doers.
21:30
اَوَ لَمْ یَرَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْۤا اَنَّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنٰهُمَاؕ-وَ جَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَیْءٍ حَیٍّؕ-اَفَلَا یُؤْمِنُوْنَ(۳۰)
Do not these unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were an integrated mass, then We split them and made every living thing from water? Will they not believe even then?
21:31
وَ جَعَلْنَا فِی الْاَرْضِ رَوَاسِیَ اَنْ تَمِیْدَ بِهِمْ وَ جَعَلْنَا فِیْهَا فِجَاجًا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّهُمْ یَهْتَدُوْنَ(۳۱)
We placed stabilisers in the earth so that as it revolved with them you lived undisturbed; and We provided passageways between them so that men may find their way;
21:32
وَ جَعَلْنَا السَّمَآءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوْظًا ۚۖ-وَّ هُمْ عَنْ اٰیٰتِهَا مُعْرِضُوْنَ(۳۲)
And We made the sky a well-protected roof. Still they turn away from His signs!
21:33
وَ هُوَ الَّذِیْ خَلَقَ الَّیْلَ وَ النَّهَارَ وَ الشَّمْسَ وَ الْقَمَرَؕ-كُلٌّ فِیْ فَلَكٍ یَّسْبَحُوْنَ(۳۳)
It is He who created night and day, the sun and the moon, revolving on its orbit.
21:34
وَ مَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّنْ قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَؕ-اَفَاۡىٕنْ مِّتَّ فَهُمُ الْخٰلِدُوْنَ(۳۴)
We have given no man everlastingness before you. So then if you die, will they live ever after?
21:35
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآىٕقَةُ الْمَوْتِؕ-وَ نَبْلُوْكُمْ بِالشَّرِّ وَ الْخَیْرِ فِتْنَةًؕ-وَ اِلَیْنَا تُرْجَعُوْنَ(۳۵)
Every soul will know the taste of death. We tempt you with evil and with good as a trial; and to Us you will return.
21:36
وَ اِذَا رَاٰكَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْۤا اِنْ یَّتَّخِذُوْنَكَ اِلَّا هُزُوًاؕ-اَهٰذَا الَّذِیْ یَذْكُرُ اٰلِهَتَكُمْۚ-وَ هُمْ بِذِكْرِ الرَّحْمٰنِ هُمْ كٰفِرُوْنَ(۳۶)
But when the unbelievers see you they make fun of you (and say): "Is this the one who mentions your gods (deridingly)?" Yet in Ar-Rahman they disbelieve!
21:37
خُلِقَ الْاِنْسَانُ مِنْ عَجَلٍؕ-سَاُورِیْكُمْ اٰیٰتِیْ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوْنِ(۳۷)
Man is made of inordinate haste. We will show you Our signs, then you will not desire to hasten (the punishment).
21:38
وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِیْنَ(۳۸)
Yet they say: "When will the promised threat come to pass, if you speak the truth?"
21:39
لَوْ یَعْلَمُ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا حِیْنَ لَا یَكُفُّوْنَ عَنْ وُّجُوْهِهِمُ النَّارَ وَ لَا عَنْ ظُهُوْرِهِمْ وَ لَا هُمْ یُنْصَرُوْنَ(۳۹)
If only the unbelievers could apprehend the moment when they would neither be able to ward off the fire from their faces and their backs, nor help reach them!
21:40
بَلْ تَاْتِیْهِمْ بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا یَسْتَطِیْعُوْنَ رَدَّهَا وَ لَا هُمْ یُنْظَرُوْنَ(۴۰)
It will come upon them unawares confounding them, and they will not be able to keep it back, nor will they be given respite.
