29:41

مَثَلُ الَّذِیْنَ اتَّخَذُوْا مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ اَوْلِیَآءَ كَمَثَلِ الْعَنْكَبُوْتِۖۚ-اِتَّخَذَتْ بَیْتًاؕ-وَ اِنَّ اَوْهَنَ الْبُیُوْتِ لَبَیْتُ الْعَنْكَبُوْتِۘ-لَوْ كَانُوْا یَعْلَمُوْنَ(۴۱)

The semblance of those who take protectors besides God is that of the spider. She arranges a house for herself, but the flimsiest of houses is the spider´s. If only they had sense!

The parable of those who take protectors other than Allah is that of the spider, who builds (to itself) a house; but truly the flimsiest of houses is the spider's house;- if they but knew.

29:42

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ یَعْلَمُ مَا یَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ مِنْ شَیْءٍؕ-وَ هُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْحَكِیْمُ(۴۲)

Verily God knows what they invoke in His place, for He is all-mighty and all-wise.

Verily Allah doth know of (every thing) whatever that they call upon besides Him: and He is Exalted (in power), Wise.

29:43

وَ تِلْكَ الْاَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِۚ-وَ مَا یَعْقِلُهَاۤ اِلَّا الْعٰلِمُوْنَ(۴۳)

These are precepts of wisdom We offer to men, but only those who are rational understand.

And such are the Parables We set forth for mankind, but only those understand them who have knowledge.

29:44

خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّؕ-اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ۠(۴۴)

God has created the heavens and the earth with reason. Surely in this is a sign for those who believe.

Allah created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): verily in that is a Sign for those who believe.

29:45

اُتْلُ مَاۤ اُوْحِیَ اِلَیْكَ مِنَ الْكِتٰبِ وَ اَقِمِ الصَّلٰوةَؕ-اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ تَنْهٰى عَنِ الْفَحْشَآءِ وَ الْمُنْكَرِؕ-وَ لَذِكْرُ اللّٰهِ اَكْبَرُؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ یَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُوْنَ(۴۵)

Recite what has been revealed to you of this Book, and be constant in devotion. Surely prayer keeps you away from the obscene and detestable, but the remembrance of God is greater far; and God knows what you do.

Recite what is sent of the Book by inspiration to thee, and establish regular Prayer: for Prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds; and remembrance of Allah is the greatest (thing in life) without doubt. And Allah knows the (deeds) that ye do.

29:46

وَ لَا تُجَادِلُوْۤا اَهْلَ الْكِتٰبِ اِلَّا بِالَّتِیْ هِیَ اَحْسَنُ ﳓ اِلَّا الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوْا مِنْهُمْ وَ قُوْلُوْۤا اٰمَنَّا بِالَّذِیْۤ اُنْزِلَ اِلَیْنَا وَ اُنْزِلَ اِلَیْكُمْ وَ اِلٰهُنَا وَ اِلٰهُكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَّ نَحْنُ لَهٗ مُسْلِمُوْنَ(۴۶)

Do not argue with the people of the Book unless in a fair way, apart from those who act wrongly, and say to them: "We believe what has been sent down to us, and we believe what has been sent down to you. Our God and your God is one, and to Him we submit."

And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam)."

29:47

وَ كَذٰلِكَ اَنْزَلْنَاۤ اِلَیْكَ الْكِتٰبَؕ-فَالَّذِیْنَ اٰتَیْنٰهُمُ الْكِتٰبَ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِهٖۚ-وَ مِنْ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ مَنْ یُّؤْمِنُ بِهٖؕ-وَ مَا یَجْحَدُ بِاٰیٰتِنَاۤ اِلَّا الْكٰفِرُوْنَ(۴۷)

That is how We have revealed this Book to you and those to whom We have sent down the Book will believe in it. Only those who are infidels will deny it.

And thus (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein, as also do some of these (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs.

29:48

وَ مَا كُنْتَ تَتْلُوْا مِنْ قَبْلِهٖ مِنْ كِتٰبٍ وَّ لَا تَخُطُّهٗ بِیَمِیْنِكَ اِذًا لَّارْتَابَ الْمُبْطِلُوْنَ(۴۸)

You did not read any Scripture before this, nor wrote one with your right hand, or else these dissemblers would have found a cause to doubt it.

And thou wast not (able) to recite a Book before this (Book came), nor art thou (able) to transcribe it with thy right hand: In that case, indeed, would the talkers of vanities have doubted.

29:49

بَلْ هُوَ اٰیٰتٌۢ بَیِّنٰتٌ فِیْ صُدُوْرِ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَؕ-وَ مَا یَجْحَدُ بِاٰیٰتِنَاۤ اِلَّا الظّٰلِمُوْنَ(۴۹)

In fact, in the minds of those who have intelligence these are clear signs. No one denies Our revelations except those who are unjust.

Nay, here are Signs self-evident in the hearts of those endowed with knowledge: and none but the unjust reject Our Signs.

29:50

وَ قَالُوْا لَوْ لَاۤ اُنْزِلَ عَلَیْهِ اٰیٰتٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّهٖؕ-قُلْ اِنَّمَا الْاٰیٰتُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِؕ-وَ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا نَذِیْرٌ مُّبِیْنٌ(۵۰)

For they say: "How Is it no signs were sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "The signs are with God. I am only a warner, plain and simple."

Ye they say: "Why are not Signs sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "The signs are indeed with Allah: and I am indeed a clear Warner."

29:51

اَوَ لَمْ یَكْفِهِمْ اَنَّاۤ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَیْكَ الْكِتٰبَ یُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِمْؕ-اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَّ ذِكْرٰى لِقَوْمٍ یُّؤْمِنُوْنَ۠(۵۱)

Is it not sufficient for them that We have revealed the Book to you which is read out to them? It is indeed a grace and reminder for people who believe.

And is it not enough for them that we have sent down to thee the Book which is rehearsed to them? Verily, in it is Mercy and a Reminder to those who believe.

29:52

قُلْ كَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ بَیْنِیْ وَ بَیْنَكُمْ شَهِیْدًاۚ-یَعْلَمُ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِؕ-وَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا بِالْبَاطِلِ وَ كَفَرُوْا بِاللّٰهِۙ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ هُمُ الْخٰسِرُوْنَ(۵۲)

Say: "God is sufficient as witness between me and you." He knows what is in the heavens and the earth. It is those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve in God who will perish.

Say: "Enough is Allah for a witness between me and you: He knows what is in the heavens and on earth. And it is those who believe in vanities and reject Allah, that will perish (in the end).

29:53

وَ یَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَكَ بِالْعَذَابِؕ-وَ لَوْ لَاۤ اَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى لَّجَآءَهُمُ الْعَذَابُؕ-وَ لَیَاْتِیَنَّهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَّ هُمْ لَا یَشْعُرُوْنَ(۵۳)

They want you to hasten the punishment: But for a time already determined the punishment would have come upon them. It will come upon them all too suddenly, and they will be caught unawares.

They ask thee to hasten on the Punishment (for them): had it not been for a term (of respite) appointed, the Punishment would certainly have come to them: and it will certainly reach them,- of a sudden, while they perceive not!

29:54

یَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَكَ بِالْعَذَابِؕ-وَ اِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِیْطَةٌۢ بِالْكٰفِرِیْنَۙ(۵۴)

They want you to hasten the punishment: Hell will indeed surround the unbelievers.

They ask thee to hasten on the Punishment: but, of a surety, Hell will encompass the Rejecters of Faith!-

29:55

یَوْمَ یَغْشٰىهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَ مِنْ تَحْتِ اَرْجُلِهِمْ وَ یَقُوْلُ ذُوْقُوْا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ(۵۵)

The day the punishment comes upon them from above and underneath their feet, (God will) say: "And now taste of what you had done."

On the Day that the Punishment shall cover them from above them and from below them, and (a Voice) shall say: "Taste ye (the fruits) of your deeds!"

29:56

یٰعِبَادِیَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِنَّ اَرْضِیْ وَاسِعَةٌ فَاِیَّایَ فَاعْبُدُوْنِ(۵۶)

O My creatures who believe, surely My earth has plenty of scope and so worship only Me.

O My servants who believe! truly, spacious is My Earth: therefore serve ye Me - (and Me alone)!

29:57

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآىٕقَةُ الْمَوْتِ- ثُمَّ اِلَیْنَا تُرْجَعُوْنَ(۵۷)

Every soul has to know the taste of death. You will then be sent back to Us.

Every soul shall have a taste of death in the end to Us shall ye be brought back.

29:58

وَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ مِّنَ الْجَنَّةِ غُرَفًا تَجْرِیْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ خٰلِدِیْنَ فِیْهَاؕ-نِعْمَ اَجْرُ الْعٰمِلِیْنَۗۖ(۵۸)

We shall admit those who believe and do the right to empyreal gardens with rivers rippling by, where they will abide for ever. How excellent the guerdon of those who toil,

But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness - to them shall We give a Home in Heaven,- lofty mansions beneath which flow rivers,- to dwell therein for aye;- an excellent reward for those who do (good)!-

29:59

الَّذِیْنَ صَبَرُوْا وَ عَلٰى رَبِّهِمْ یَتَوَكَّلُوْنَ(۵۹)

Who persevere and place their trust in their Lord.

Those who persevere in patience, and put their trust, in their Lord and Cherisher.

29:60

وَ كَاَیِّنْ مِّنْ دَآبَّةٍ لَّا تَحْمِلُ رِزْقَهَا ﰮ اَللّٰهُ یَرْزُقُهَا وَ اِیَّاكُمْ ﳲ وَ هُوَ السَّمِیْعُ الْعَلِیْمُ(۶۰)

How many living things there are on the earth that do not Store their food; God provides them as well as you. He is all-hearing and all-knowing.

How many are the creatures that carry not their own sustenance? It is Allah who feeds (both) them and you: for He hears and knows (all things).

29:61

وَ لَىٕنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ سَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَ الْقَمَرَ لَیَقُوْلُنَّ اللّٰهُۚ-فَاَنّٰى یُؤْفَكُوْنَ(۶۱)

If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth, and who set the sun and the moon to work?" They will answer: "God." Why then do they vacillate?

If indeed thou ask them who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon (to his Law), they will certainly reply, "Allah". How are they then deluded away (from the truth)?

29:62

اَللّٰهُ یَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ یَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ وَ یَقْدِرُ لَهٗؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِكُلِّ شَیْءٍ عَلِیْمٌ(۶۲)

God increases the means of those of His creatures as He please, or limits them for whomsoever He will. He is certainly cognisant of everything.

Allah enlarges the sustenance (which He gives) to whichever of His servants He pleases; and He (similarly) grants by (strict) measure, (as He pleases): for Allah has full knowledge of all things.

29:63

وَ لَىٕنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَّنْ نَّزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَاَحْیَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَیَقُوْلُنَّ اللّٰهُؕ-قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِؕ-بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا یَعْقِلُوْنَ۠(۶۳)

If you ask them: "Who sends down rain from the sky and quickens the earth when it is dead?" They will answer: "God." Say: "All praise be to God." But most of them do not understand.

And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, "Allah!" Say, "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not.

29:64

وَ مَا هٰذِهِ الْحَیٰوةُ الدُّنْیَاۤ اِلَّا لَهْوٌ وَّ لَعِبٌؕ-وَ اِنَّ الدَّارَ الْاٰخِرَةَ لَهِیَ الْحَیَوَانُۘ-لَوْ كَانُوْا یَعْلَمُوْنَ(۶۴)

The life of this world is only a sport and play. It is surely the home of the Hereafter that will indeed be life extended and new, if only they knew!

What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew.

29:65

فَاِذَا رَكِبُوْا فِی الْفُلْكِ دَعَوُا اللّٰهَ مُخْلِصِیْنَ لَهُ الدِّیْنَﳛ فَلَمَّا نَجّٰىهُمْ اِلَى الْبَرِّ اِذَا هُمْ یُشْرِكُوْنَۙ(۶۵)

When they board a ship they call on God, placing their faith wholly in Him. But when He brings them safely back to shore, they begin to associate others with Him,

Now, if they embark on a boat, they call on Allah, making their devotion sincerely (and exclusively) to Him; but when He has delivered them safely to (dry) land, behold, they give a share (of their worship to others)!-

29:66

لِیَكْفُرُوْا بِمَاۤ اٰتَیْنٰهُمْ ﳐ وَ لِیَتَمَتَّعُوْاٙ-فَسَوْفَ یَعْلَمُوْنَ(۶۶)

And deny what We had given them, in order to go on enjoying themselves. They will come to know soon.

Disdaining ungratefully Our gifts, and giving themselves up to (worldly) enjoyment! But soon will they know.

29:67

اَوَ لَمْ یَرَوْا اَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَمًا اٰمِنًا وَّ یُتَخَطَّفُ النَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْؕ-اَفَبِالْبَاطِلِ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ وَ بِنِعْمَةِ اللّٰهِ یَكْفُرُوْنَ(۶۷)

Do they not see that We have given them a safe sanctuary, while all around them men are being despoiled? Do they then believe what is false, and deny the bounty of God?

Do they not then see that We have made a sanctuary secure, and that men are being snatched away from all around them? Then, do they believe in that which is vain, and reject the Grace of Allah?

29:68

وَ مَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِبًا اَوْ كَذَّبَ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهٗؕ-اَلَیْسَ فِیْ جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْكٰفِرِیْنَ(۶۸)

Who is more unjust than he who fabricates a lie about God, or denies the truth when it has come to him? Is there not an abode for unbelievers in Hell?

And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah or rejects the Truth when it reaches him? Is there not a home in Hell for those who reject Faith?

29:69

وَ الَّذِیْنَ جَاهَدُوْا فِیْنَا لَنَهْدِیَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَاؕ-وَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ۠(۶۹)

We shall guide those who strive in Our cause to the paths leading straight to Us. Surely God is with those who do good.

And those who strive in Our (cause),- We will certainly guide them to our Paths: For verily Allah is with those who do right.
