اَلدُّخَان

59 Ayaat مکیۃ

44:0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

44:1

حٰمٓۚۛ(۱)

HA MIM.

44:2

وَ الْكِتٰبِ الْمُبِیْنِۙۛ(۲)

The perspicuous Book is witness

44:3

اِنَّاۤ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ فِیْ لَیْلَةٍ مُّبٰرَكَةٍ اِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِیْنَ(۳)

(That) We sent it down one night of blessing -- so that We could warn --

44:4

فِیْهَا یُفْرَقُ كُلُّ اَمْرٍ حَكِیْمٍۙ(۴)

On which all affairs are sorted out and decided

44:5

اَمْرًا مِّنْ عِنْدِنَاؕ-اِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِیْنَۚ(۵)

As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers),

44:6

رَحْمَةً مِّنْ رَّبِّكَؕ-اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِیْعُ الْعَلِیْمُۙ(۶)

A mercy from your Lord. Verily He is all-hearing and all-knowing,

44:7

رَبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَاۘ-اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُّوْقِنِیْنَ(۷)

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you really do believe.

44:8

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ یُحْیٖ وَ یُمِیْتُؕ-رَبُّكُمْ وَ رَبُّ اٰبَآىٕكُمُ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ(۸)

There is no god other than He, who gives you life and death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old.

44:9

بَلْ هُمْ فِیْ شَكٍّ یَّلْعَبُوْنَ(۹)

Yet they are lost in doubt and play.

44:10

فَارْتَقِبْ یَوْمَ تَاْتِی السَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِیْنٍۙ(۱۰)

So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke,

44:11

یَّغْشَى النَّاسَؕ-هٰذَا عَذَابٌ اَلِیْمٌ(۱۱)

Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction.

44:12

رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ اِنَّا مُؤْمِنُوْنَ(۱۲)

"O Lord, take away this torment from us," (they will pray); "we have come to believe."

44:13

اَنّٰى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرٰى وَ قَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مُّبِیْنٌۙ(۱۳)

How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them,

44:14

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَ قَالُوْا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُوْنٌۘ(۱۴)

But they turned away from him, and said: "He is well-instructed, (but) possessed."

44:15

اِنَّا كَاشِفُوا الْعَذَابِ قَلِیْلًا اِنَّكُمْ عَآىٕدُوْنَۘ(۱۵)

If We remove the torment a little, you revert back (to misdeeds).

44:16

یَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرٰىۚ-اِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُوْنَ(۱۶)

The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them.

44:17

وَ لَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ كَرِیْمٌۙ(۱۷)

We had tried the people of Pharaoh before them. A respected prophet had come to them (saying):

44:18

اَنْ اَدُّوْۤا اِلَیَّ عِبَادَ اللّٰهِؕ-اِنِّیْ لَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ اَمِیْنٌۙ(۱۸)

"Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you.

44:19

وَّ اَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِۚ-اِنِّیْۤ اٰتِیْكُمْ بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِیْنٍۚ(۱۹)

Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority.

44:20

وَ اِنِّیْ عُذْتُ بِرَبِّیْ وَ رَبِّكُمْ اَنْ تَرْجُمُوْنِ٘(۲۰)

I have taken refuge in my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me to death.

44:21

وَ اِنْ لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوْا لِیْ فَاعْتَزِلُوْنِ(۲۱)

If you do not believe in me, leave me alone."

44:22

فَدَعَا رَبَّهٗۤ اَنَّ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُوْنَ(۲۲)

Then he called to his Lord: "These are a sinful people."

44:23

فَاَسْرِ بِعِبَادِیْ لَیْلًا اِنَّكُمْ مُّتَّبَعُوْنَۙ(۲۳)

"Journey by night with My devotees," (it was said); "you will certainly be pursued.

44:24

وَ اتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًاؕ-اِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُّغْرَقُوْنَ(۲۴)

(Cross and) leave the sea undisturbed. The (pursuing) hosts will surely be drowned,"

44:25

كَمْ تَرَكُوْا مِنْ جَنّٰتٍ وَّ عُیُوْنٍۙ(۲۵)

How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind,

44:26

وَّ زُرُوْعٍ وَّ مَقَامٍ كَرِیْمٍۙ(۲۶)

And fields and stately mansions,

44:27

وَّ نَعْمَةٍ كَانُوْا فِیْهَا فٰكِهِیْنَۙ(۲۷)

And the comfort they enjoyed.

44:28

كَذٰلِكَ- وَ اَوْرَثْنٰهَا قَوْمًا اٰخَرِیْنَ(۲۸)

Thus it was; and We passed them on to another people.

44:29

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَیْهِمُ السَّمَآءُ وَ الْاَرْضُ وَ مَا كَانُوْا مُنْظَرِیْنَ۠(۲۹)

Neither did the heavens weep for them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite.

44:30

وَ لَقَدْ نَجَّیْنَا بَنِیْۤ اِسْرَآءِیْلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِیْنِۙ(۳۰)

So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering

44:31

مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَؕ-اِنَّهٗ كَانَ عَالِیًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِیْنَ(۳۱)

They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess.

44:32

وَ لَقَدِ اخْتَرْنٰهُمْ عَلٰى عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعٰلَمِیْنَۚ(۳۲)

And We exalted them over the other people knowingly,

44:33

وَ اٰتَیْنٰهُمْ مِّنَ الْاٰیٰتِ مَا فِیْهِ بَلٰٓؤٌا مُّبِیْنٌ(۳۳)

And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them.

44:34

اِنَّ هٰۤؤُلَآءِ لَیَقُوْلُوْنَۙ(۳۴)

Even then they say:

44:35

اِنْ هِیَ اِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْاُوْلٰى وَ مَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِیْنَ(۳۵)

"There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again.

44:36

فَاْتُوْا بِاٰبَآىٕنَاۤ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِیْنَ(۳۶)

So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful."

44:37

اَهُمْ خَیْرٌ اَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍۙ-وَّ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْؕ-اَهْلَكْنٰهُمْ٘-اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا مُجْرِمِیْنَ(۳۷)

Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners?

44:38

وَ مَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَا لٰعِبِیْنَ(۳۸)

We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play.

44:39

مَا خَلَقْنٰهُمَاۤ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَ لٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ(۳۹)

We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand.

44:40

اِنَّ یَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِیْقَاتُهُمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَۙ(۴۰)

The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting,
